First of all, comparing Weezy to all these old school rappers is irrelevent. Each time in rap history has its own standards and comparing rappers from different times is near impossible because the style has evolved and changed so much.
As far as modern rap goes, Weezy is one of the most clever and creative dudes out there. Whether you like his style or not, you cannot deny that over the last year he has put out more hot music than any other rapper in the game right now.
I don’t think he has the prestige of Jay or Nas right now, but just give him a few more years and he will be reconized as one of the best.
True. Back in the 90s, rap was better than it is now. They can’t put it down like they did back in the day, even more so since most of them stopped making rap like they used to. But there are reasons for that.

NAS IS DA BEST LYRICIST/RAPPER ALIVE NO DOUBT. JAY-Z IS GOOD BUT HE COULDNT COME NEAR NAS.nAS IS ON A WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL.
Nas is not the greatest. He’s up there, but not the greatest.

listen to krayzie bones new fixtape then let me know what is out now that is more versatile and charismatic. lil wayne doesnt have shit on him. then listen to some of bizzy bones new shit “its 1999” and let me know who has a song out that is that raw. if you honestly think you have a reply to this you are just lying to yourself
Lil wayne seems to pride himself on his lyrics and ability to kill other rappers, and everybody seems to think he’s great, but I don’t see it. His songs are about absolutely nothing. He can not write a song about one topic other than himself being cool. People love his stupid metaphors similes and comparisons, but they get old when that’s all he does. Plus, I think any decent rapper could come up with comparisons and similes just as good as wayne if they wanted to spend entire albums on them. Lil wayne’s popularity lies in his style, “coolness” and unique rapping, which are all being mistaken for talent. Just because it is unique, does not mean it is good.
I’m not a big gangsta rap fan, if you can even consider wayne that, but I think the best rappers in the game right now are lupe and chamillionaire, lupe hands down the best.
