You have not listened to much rock have you? Why are you even dissing rock for no reason?

Why? Because its always you waynes world fuckers that are dissing hip hop or any other type of music that doesn’t revolve around your precious guitars.

I can define each rock genre:

Psychedelic Rock- Guitar style, vocal style, and overall sound designed to sound like you are high.

Progressive Rock- Normal rock with a mixture of either techno, symphonic elements, acoustic guitars, and chimes, etc.

Soft Rock- A very emotional and happy form of rock. Usually talk about love. Guitars are usually slow.

Hard Rock- A fast paced form of rock with distorted guitars, fast drums, and singing. Lyrics usually deal with anger.

Punk Rock- Alot like hard rock, but lyrical themes are much different. Much like rap/hip hop lyrics in ways.

Gothic Rock- Usually talks about sadness. Like hard rock, there are distorted guitars and fast drums, but slightly more extreme.

Heavy Metal- Usually considered a different genre, “metal” is an extremely aggressive and angry form. Usually talk about political problems, depression, anger, sadness, melencholia and mental illness.

There are major differences between the genres if you don’t believe me, check the artists out.

Psychedelic Rock- Pink Floyd, the Doors

Progressive Rock- Mike Oldfield

Soft Rock- The Beatles

Hard Rock- Led Zeppelin, AC/DC

Punk Rock- Ramones Blink 182

Gothic Rock-Him

Metal- Black Sabbath, Slayer, Metallica, Cannibal Corpse

Naming a bunch of bands does nothing to prove your point. Again, there is way more musical variation in hip hop than all these “genres” combined! Hip hop just doesn’t slap a name on every different beat that comes along.

Wow, if thats what you call variety then you are really missing out.

The standards you used for catagorizing your guitar music is pretty weak IMO. In hip hop almost every single song uses a different snare, hi hat, synth sound, etc... The things you mentioned like “fast drums”, “chimes”, “acoustic guitars”, “vocal style”, etc... if you applied those same (mostly minor) musical variations to hip hop, you would pretty much have to create a new genre for every new hip hop beat that came out!

"I never said “random” notes... any fool can easily come up with a melody on a guitar."
Go ahead and make one then, an actual good one.

“Thats so sad you are only limiting yourself to a guitar to “get a certain emotion”.
You don’t just have to use a guitar. You use bass, drums, vocals, keyboards, even stringed instruments, and yes, even electronic beats.

“I actually play so called “real instruments” like guitars so I do know what I’m talking about here.
Trust me, anybody can bust out quick melody on a guitar."

I play guitar too, and I know you are full of shit. It is hard to make an actual good rock melody. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Anybody can come up with random beats and talking about random shit to a beat.

professional beat making software and know how to properly use it, then you would know there is just sooo much more that goes into making a quality hip hop instrumental from start to finish than strumming a riff on a guitar.

Dude, you pretty much just set the tone, speed, and additional sounds, and then you are done. Trust me, I have a class in my school that does with that stuff, I learned how to make a good beat in days.

So what? Good DJs can cut a cross-fader on a mixer 20 times per second.

Yeah, but that is on a computer where a computer does if for you, you are not actually playing the beat. The mixer just leans back and relaxes, while a guitarist and drummer use every bit of strength to do their best.

Pay attention, I was talking about musical variation not lyrical content.
I don’t think you want to get into a debate about lyrics when it come to rock music... there is just as many generalizations about wack ass rock lyrics as there is about hip hop lyrics.

Rock talks about important issues you idiot. How is there generalizations about it?

Topics:
Depression
Melencholia
Political Problems
Love
Anger
Happiness
Social Issues
Abuse

and there are a ton more.

I never make fun of other musical forms (except for pop and disco) But if an asshole like you comes on a website just to diss rock, I will fight back.

I named the fucking bands so you can look them up and see how different they sound.

Do you want me to go deeper? Go on wikipedia and look up types of rock. It should give you the entire list (over a hundred different sounding genres) Rock does the same with getting a new snare you tard. You have not listened to any rock at all. At least you hace only listened to radio crap.

I don’t know whos idea it was to come up with all these names for the same recycled guitar crap. There is seriously more musical variation on one 50cent album than all “genres” of guitar music combined!
