Well I see English dubbed anime sometimes as people who don’t have emotional emphasis to sync in as that given character. At most their monotonous.

The reason why everyone hates english dubs is because a lot of the content is taken out of the video such as sex jokes and other rude things that have to be taken, whereas the japanese don’t give a shit

I think that most anime is dubbed pretty well, but this is just MY opinion, so please don’t get mad or anything. Also about how they cut out cursing and gore, well Naruto actually has a uncut version with all the curse words in it. They just cut them out for the younger kids.

I’ll admit though One Piece is NOT as good as the Japanese version. I’ve seen some of the Japanese ones and compared them to American dub and there’s a heck of difference in detail.

Japanese version of dbz had adult/kid Goku, adult/teen/kid gohan and Goten were voiced by the same people. But I dunno I’m the type of person who would rather call Hercule, Hercule instead of Mr. Satan.

Really, really late response, I know. But w/e...

Personally, I like both dub and sub anime. Only reason I will often float towards the dub more is because it’s sometimes nice not having to focus on multiple things when watching TV; sometimes I just want to zone out.

Someone mentioned earlier on that the Japanese versions setup the mood of the show better. But, personally, it took me bit to recognize the differences in tones, and voices of the Japanese voice actors. This may also be the same if any Japanese person watched an english dub instead for w/e reason. Both reading the subs and focusing on what is visually going on, and the voices and tones were adjustments for me. Although, I am used to it now, and there may be some dialogue in english versions that have been changed to a ridiculous extent, I still enjoy both the dubbed and subbed versions equally.

I’ve also found that the dialogue in the Japanese versions of anime is often better. Many make this arguement because it has cussing, sexual jokes, etc. But, remember that the U.S. is a less tolerable of these elements being shown, especially in animation, than many other countries around the world.

There are lots of censoring involved, and some issues involving voice actors not fitting the characters.

Some are just biased and decide to be Japanophiles and say everything Japanese is good.

True. What made them biased is the fact that English dub companies failed at majority of translation.

Depends on the series. A lot of people hate dubbed Naruto, because of his voice< but the reverse can be said for Goku. Naruto dub dosen’t SOUND bad to me.

The dubbed actually had somewhat German accent for the Millenium, though.

Japanese with a german accent? lol Western-based characters are usually best when dubbed.
