Ok so obviously you dont know what the cold war is so here let me explain it to you in a way you understand. Once upon a post world war 2 two big countries called the U.S.S.R and the U.S didnt like eachother because both wanted to rule the world. So in order to fight eachother without sending big bombs to blow eachother up they helped third world countries and there loyalties to the U.S.S.R or the U.S. Now that you understand what it is you can understand that there was a war from 1981 to 1989 between the Soviet Union and the Afgan rebels becuase the soviet union invaded afganistan. Now in order for the U.S to fully defeat the soviet union they had to help the afgan rebels and yes they did attack us in the future but we didnt know they were going to do that back then. Also the vietnamese had no money they were poor as fuck so the soviet union gave them weapons for free in order to get a communist government in all of Asia thats why we fought there int he first place.

Uhh, The soviet union definitely invaded afghanistan. Its in every current american history book. The US trained mujhadeen rebels, which years later would become u.s. hating terrorists.
As for vietnam, the vietnamese were supplied by china and russia, who also supplied a lot of other communist countries.
