Some people get forced by their parents to go.

Not all 18-year olds do.

Um yes, when you turn 18 you are legally able to make your own decisions. You don’t HAVE to live under your parents roof and follow the rules, you make the choice to do it. Once you turn 18 the ball is in your court, and life becomes your decision. Because a parent FORCING somebody over 18 to stay at there home and do what they is what boys and girls? “Detainment against one’s will” and is punishable by some serious jail time.

Why thank you my friend, I just wanted to point out that if your over 18, and your complaining because your parents are “forcing” you to go to school, then you have something shoved pretty far up your ass. Because the only way that they could “force” you to go to school, would be if they provided a house, food, cloathing, hot meals and modern conveniences for you. In which case, doing a simple favor like going to school to make them happy, isn’t such a bad thing. Better than the alternative, which is finding your own place, cooking your own meals, buying your own shit and working a dead end job 'cause you don’t have a good education.

I assumed that since both of us living in America (again an assumption, but due to your grammer and knowledge of the english language a safe guess) we would use 18 as the age to Legal Adulthood, but you are correct, in some contries you have to wait until you turn 21 to become an adult. The same rules as above still apply, the age is just moved from 18 to 21.

Depends on how you look at it.
Back in the Neanderthal Era, human life expectancy averaged out at about 20 years, so yes 3 years was a huge amount of time. In fact most people were dead by 21.
But in common times, the human life expectancy for your average person is 67 years, which would mean that 3 years is only 1/22nd of your life span. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not a very long time, due to the fact that most people spend at least 30 year or roughly 1/2 there life working at a job they hate so that they can live out there miserable existances.
