Actually Insane Rep: 31  Joined: 10 Aug 2005 Posts: 36,665 OFFLINE | I found this on another site. Flop or Not series. Basically you list a few games and ask people whether they think it’ll flop or not. And when it comes around to sales time of the game we’ll decide who’s right and who’s wrong. I’m going to say a flop is any game that sales less than 250k worldwide. I think that’s fair considering most of the games I’ll be listing would need that much anyways to turn a profit.
So under my first edition of this it’ll be Wii 3rd Party Games. I’ll list them and you tell me if it’ll flop or not. I’ll keep record of who says what and we’ll see who gets the most right.
Now here’s the list of games for this edition. Because its an easy answer I’ll list a lot of them.

soul calibur...will sell
zack and wiki will do ok i guess
lego star wars...pwnage !!!
rayman *coughsucks* bad move making another just cause the last sold...it was a disgrace to the rayman series...

Note if you haven’t heard of a certain title then its probably best to put it down as a flop. I mean to get sales you need marketing and if you haven’t heard of it then its not being marketed well enough meaning it doens’t have a chance to sell.
Tony Hawk Proving Ground on Wii will flop simply because Activision hardly has advertised the game for any system let alone the Wii. I mean a commercial add and that’s really it.
Need for Speed Prostreet will be overshadowed by its releases on other system as you stated.
Manhunt 2 has had so much free marketing and advertising from all this controversy over the title that there is no way the title won’t sell haha. I doubt it’ll flop. And it’ll release sooner or later in some places in Europe to get extra sales there.
RE:UC will sell no matter what.
Guitar Hero III combined with Wii equal collosal explosions haha.
No More Heroes is going to rock but it just doesn’t have enough marketing to not flop.
MOHH2’s online aspect will ensure it from not flopping. And the delay of Brawl will help that aspect sell even more.
Ghost Squad hasn’t had enough marketing to succeed.
Nights is purely going to sell off the old school fanbase and its gotten some good hype.
Soul Calibur will sell cause of brand.
Zach and Wiki has had enough advertising from IGN to sell past the 250k point.
Lego Star Wars on a Nintendo hardware has always been huge so so will this one.
And RRR2 is going to be sweet and not flop.

I mean look at BW2, it should be great yet we have seen very little of it. NOH is still in development and still a long way from being judged.

I think No More Heroes will be amazing but sales very rarely has to do with how good a game is. Only marketing, hype, and brand tend to matter nowadays. If you don’t do all that then the game is pretty much doomed to sale bad.

Yea its a million seller definetly but most argue it could have been a lot bigger if NIntendo marketed it a lot more. Oh well I guess.
