Lead.

Bass is more important but it is easier to play.

Some bass is pretty hard in only few genres. In death metal and black metal, it is extremely hard, nearly as hard as lead guitar.

Both are really hard to play well.

Take the fine examples of guitar and bass in the following videos:

Both take years of practice.

Lead is more difficult, or at least I found it more difficult.

Also, petrofsky... Please make your signature smaller. It’s far too larger.

All instruments are as hard as you make them. Bass can be exceptionally simple, or intensely difficult, as can drums, guitar, or anything else.

Musicianship is what it’s about. If you can keep decent time, know when to play, and crucially, when not to play, you’re most of the way there to being a good musician. Who cares about how difficult it is?

I agree entirely.

I know a few people that need to learn that...

Punk rock is the easiest to play, really stripped down and repetitive power chords (boring!)pop rock bass is fairy easy to learn to play. hard rock is more difficult than and to a further extent traditional blues based heavy metal qhich has more complicated bass lines. Next come the styles which feature bass as the lead instrument: RnB, Soul, Reggae, Drum n bass (if your brave), funk, soca, and fusion styles such as funk rock, jazz rock and funk metal. Death metal, black metal and especially bass dominanted groove metal are the hardest to play.

But dont quote me on that its different for different people. this is the collective opinions of me and other bassists i know.

really as far as bass and guitar bass is the easiest instrument to learn but the hardest to master someone can master a guitar but mastering a bass would take a life time there are so many techniques and styles while guitar has a lot of styles they all arent played a completely different technique such as jazz uses fingers funk which is the hardest uses slaps and pops and rock is usually picked sometimes used with fingers and metal is usually pick because its so fast but me i prefer fingers even though i play metal i can bring it up to speed
