The Phoenix Cloth represents the constellation Phoenix, which is associated to the immortal bird that is reborn from its ashes, found in folkore and mythologies of diverse cultures.

As a saint, Ikki uses two techniques to dispose of his enemies: “Hou Yoku Ten Sho," and “Phoenix Genma Ken." “Hou Yoku Ten Sho” is an attack that gathers forces of wind and heat into a concentrated point, then unleashed as a single blow. “Phoenix Genma Ken” is infamous for destroying the minds of its victims — the technique is dealt from either a single fist or a finger, and sends various nightmare illusions to the opponent’s brain. The opponent is then trapped within an illusion that is almost indistinguishable from reality. Ikki’s genma ken usually spells doom for the victim, unless he/she has an unusually powerful mind or cosmos. To date, Ikki has used the genma ken to defeat the likes of bronze saint Cygnus Hyoga, silver saint Auriga Capella, gold saint Pisces Aphrodite (this battle not considered canon, however), and Garuda Aiacos (in the spectre’s case, the genma ken severely weakened him to the point where Ikki no longer had trouble putting him away).

In the manga, Ikki and gold saint Gemini Saga were forced into a draw when Saga attempted to use his Demon Emperor Fist to counter Ikki’s genma ken. Both saints unleashed their respective attacks at the same time, and the immediate result was Ikki being overwhelmed. As the technique gave Saga control over his opponent, the gold saint quickly commanded Ikki to pierce the muscle in his upper left arm. With the Demon Emperor Fist’s effect in full control, Ikki could not help but follow through. Taunting his victory over the Phoenix, Saga then insisted that Ikki decapitate an unconscious Seiya. Ikki, again, could not resist and complied with the order. As Saga celebrated over Seiya’s death, suddenly, the scenario reverted to normal and he realized that Seiya’s form was still intact. Ikki explained that Saga had just become a victim to the Phoenix Genma Ken’s illusionary powers — although, the gold saint’s own Demon Emperor Fist hadn’t failed either. If Saga had initially instructed that Ikki decapitate Seiya instead of injuring his own arm, Ikki would have done it without question. The bloody wound on his left arm was proof of this.


[edit] The Immortal Phoenix Cloth
Ikki is connected to his cloth and constellation in more ways than one. The Phoenix cloth has the uncanny ability to reform from atoms if pulverized — an ability that not even gold cloths have. Ikki himself can never truly die for good; while he can be killed, the constellation of the Phoenix grants him the power of resurrection. It is implied in the series that Ikki also receives a boost in strength from every revival.


He also have speed of light from the 7th sense...

Ikki also can kill his opponents using Genma Ken... attacking their mind and kill them...

Ikki is the winner... ... lol even greed lantern using his ring and WW using his power and kill him... well finally Ikki will revive again with more boost of power... and his genma ken can not be blocked using the ring and bracelets... Ikki has speed of light which Wonder Woman and Greed lantern cant dodge... and his genma ken... he can use it many times with one shot just like he did to Garuda Aiocos... make Garuda weak and finally attacking him...

same thing happen to them... and finally he facing superman... even superman kill him and leave him with no body he will revive again... phoenix cloth and phoenix stars constellations giving this power... until the day phoenix surpassing his power... Ikki can go through time and space and also another dimensions which can be proved when he was fighting Kanon... kanon send him to another dimension but Ikki come back a live... the phoenix cloth give him ability for doing that...

Same technique wont work twice on saint... which mean superman attacks with brutall power make Ikki body to immune againts such attacks...

btw... Superman lazer beam only make Ikki stronger...
his cold breath doesnt take any effect to him... he was facing Cygnus Hyooga which his ice could freeze volcano and its lava... ...

You know what??? Superman, Wonder Woman and Greed Lantern dont have 8th sense that makes Ikki surpassing him if they fight in under world... oh wait... The three of them will die if they go to the world of the death...

Kill Ikki... Ikki will revive again with more boost of power... and also speed...

Mythical Garuda vs. Immortal Phoenix
Along with Griffin Minos, Garuda Aiacos appeared on the scene during the fight between Wyvern Rhadamanthys and Gemini Kanon. It seems Rhadamanthys was having difficulty dealing with the Gemini Gold Saint, and would’ve tasted defeat had the two Judges not intervene. Garuda immediately took an interest in the battle and hit Kanon with the “Galactic Illusion”. Kanon survived, but soon fell victim to Griffin Minos' “Cosmic Marionette” technique.

Bronze Saint Phoenix Ikki soon arrived to save Kanon from Minos. Aiacos, still itching for a good fight, challenged the Phoenix Saint to a match-up. Aiacos demonstrated his superior speed and agility over the saint, and caused sufficient damage with the “Garuda Flap”. Ikki was hurled into the air before brutally crashing into the ground. However, the Phoenix was still intact. Amused, Aiacos gave the Phoenix a second taste of the technique. This time, Ikki did not land as expected — instead, the bronze saint countered the move and swiftly smashed Aiacos' back as he recovered. Standing triumphantly over his opponent, Ikki stated that the same technique cannot be successfully used against a saint twice.


Aiacos, unleashing the “Galactica Illusion"Of course, Aiacos was not out, and offered to show Ikki a stronger move — the “Galactica Illusion”. Hundreds of illus ional eyes flashed open within a cosmic storm as an air current sent Ikki flying into the air and to his apparent demise. The Garuda began to gloat that he had finally finished off the Phoenix, but soon enough, Ikki was on his feet once more. At this point, Gemini Saint Kanon warned Aiacos that every time Ikki was resurrected, he would become more powerful than before. Aiacos, refusing to believe in such nonsense, attacked the bronze saint with swift straight punches — with none connecting.

Aiacos was in disbelief at Ikki’s newfound speed, but before he could do anything else, the Phoenix hit him with his infamous “Phoenix Genma Ken”. The spectre shrugged off the move and responded with another “Galactica Illusion” — but to his horror, Ikki stood unharmed and reiterated his earlier statement — the same technique cannot be successfully used against a saint twice. He then reversed the attack, and Aiacos' entire body was completely hacked to pieces by his own move.

Aiacos snapped out of it when he realized it was an illusion — the effects of Ikki’s demonic “Genma Ken”. Minos and Rhadamanthys was dumbfounded as to what had happened, while Kanon stood amazed at having witnessed the “Genma Ken” again. Ikki then declared that the match was over; Aiacos was no longer a suitable opponent for him. Enraged at the idea that a Judge of Hell like himself would lose to a mere bronze saint, Aiacos charged towards Ikki with another attack. Ikki, now more concerned with the rumors of his brother having become the next avatar of Hades, decided to quickly end the fight. Using the powerful “Hou Yoku Ten Sho”, the Phoenix obliterated the Garuda with a decisive end.
