its called suspense.anime like 2 use suspense alot and its worth the suspense cause u found out that it was worth waiting

....What? Suspense has nothing to do with no one ever moving. Especially in situations when there’s no suspense to build.

Actually, the greatest suspense is when there IS a lot of stuff going on. Take the movie “Alien” for example. There are a lot of times when people are moving around trying to do something, and you know the Alien is going to come soon... but you don’t know when.

That’s good suspense. I’ve never been held in suspense with anime.
its sort of like that in anime they stand their and u dont know when they are going 2 strike or what there gonna do
and fights in anime take months almost wich last longer than the moments in alien.

They just stand there and it’s BORING. And they stand there when nothing at all is going to happen. Two people will have a casual conversation and barely move. That’s not building up for anything. And fights don’t make a cartoon worth watching.

Are you stupid? First of all I can guarantee you pulled that information straight out of your ass, and you also ignore the fact that anime is an entire “genre” of cartoons (I use the term “genre” loosely since not even its fans can come up with a solid definition of what constitutes as anime) and American Idol is one show. Also, American Idol is held to one country while people can watch anime internationally.

You know what’s been on even longer than Dragonball Z? Sesame Street. That show has been on the air since 1969. And it makes more money than any anime. So by your logic, Sesame Street is better than anime.

Stop breathing please.

no if u havent noticed that alot of sesame street is watched by babys correct.anime has millions of fans all over the world adult and children from africa australia, aisa
africa,europe,south america,and north america
and acuttally dbz been around longer than sesame street.dbz use 2 be a comic book.magna is the comic book version of anime

And? A lot of anime is watched by angsty emo kids who shop at Hot Topic. What does the audience have to do with anything?

And the Dragonball manga was first made in 1984. Sesame Street still beats it.

And again, you’re using a whole genre to counter one show. Is it that hard to understand that it’s obvious an entire genre will outnumber one show?

You’re dumb.
there u go again with those stero types.u make ussumptions of stuff u havent watched and anime is makin more t5han any tv show on tv. tell me is sesame stree outnumber every anime ever made.watch some more anime and come back.and also if u dont like little baby anime wich u (probly watch like pokemon digimon yu-gi-oh,duel masters)get some unrated versions of anime or watch some adult rated anime shows

You can’t really go with that either. Some anime mimics western art and some western animation mimics anime. =/

Death Note I thought was pretty good. And if you ignore the sex parts the Mezzo series is also pretty well-done.

I was never one for cartoon porn... so I never tried Mezzo. Death Note is alright from what little I’ve seen.

I recommend the movies from Studio Ghibli. They’re prime examples of what anime should be and it’s some of the best in animation from anywhere.

Saying something outshines Disney isn’t saying much. Despite Disney’s fame, their animation is pretty dull and has no real soul to it.

As for the TV series thing, I guess it’s not really necessary, but the most annoying thing is when people treat anime as actual cartoons, when they’re really not. Cartoons are, by definition, cartoony. Anime isn’t.

What also bugs me is how so many anime-fans I’ve debated with can’t seem to come up with a solid definition of anime. Some say it’s any animation that comes from Japan, yet there are many American cartoons that are produced in Japan because they’re cheaper. Some say it’s a style, but others argue about the “wide range” of anime styles. It just makes no sense to me. And then there are supposed “anime artists” on deviantart or whatever who aren’t japanese at all.

There may still be some animes that actually try to push the envelope, but those are far and in between (that’s not to say it’s any different for american cartoons though. Just about everything on Cartoon Network is shit).

Well, I was merely talking about FPS and deep the animations are. Akira is among the top in that respect. But, its definitely on a different level from any Disney film content-wise, primarily because the setting is rough and the plot is pretty dark.

And, anime is really just a Japanese cartoon. Yes, cartoon. Cartoons are defined by illustrations, or things resembling as such. Anime can really just be defined as a cartoon made in Japan (and by made in Japan, I don’t mean conceived in America, written by an Englishman, then moved to Asia for a Japanese studio to animate). As for styles, its usually pretty easy to identify an anime from something western based on how they shade or how they draw eyes. Of course, this varies and the gap can be really small. But, anime doesn’t define a style to most as it defines an origin. Those fans you talk to apparently are conflicting because they think anime is super-special, when it really isn’t, and they’re just not coming to terms with that. I love it, yes, but I see its flaws just as I do anything.

But yeah, animation in Japan is pretty much akin to how animation is in America nowadays (popular animation), except they go for broader audiences than just children. Its tired out. I love anime as a whole, but I only enjoy most animes to a certain degree. Of course, there’s also anime I want to burn with a big, flaming stick.

The sex plays a small part in Mezzo. There are a few scenes with it, but it’s not too important to the story so it’s good to ignore.

I prefer cartoons where I can actually mute the TV, but still enjoy watching it because of how silly and dynamic it is. Anime isn’t very daring in terms of its animation. The plots are good sometimes, but if that’s all there’s no reason for it to be an anime. It could just be a regular TV show.

In short: anime bores me and is too stock with its character designs.
its called suspense.anime like 2 use suspense alot and its worth the suspense cause u found out that it was worth waiting

And fights don’t make a cartoon worth watching.

goku1003 wrote: and also anime makes more money than american idol and the top american shows.anime shows have the highest ratings on tv.and
also if anime was dumb they wouldnt put dbz on the air constantly.dragonball z was made in the 80’s and it was brought back and played again constantly.and was name the most successful anime made

You’re dumb.
there u go again with those stero types.u make ussumptions of stuff u havent watched and anime is makin more tell is sesame stree outnumber every anime ever made.watch some more anime and come back

What? I can hardly understand a word you’re saying.

I have watched anime, that’s how I can have my opinion on it.

And you haven’t even attempted to prove anything you’ve said. Prove to me “anime makes more money” than whatever you want to compare it to. Find me numbers and you won’t sound like such an idiot.

what anime have u watched u cant make a big opinion on 1 topic just by watching 1 show of anime u know

To name a few I’ve watched:

Dragonball
Dragonball Z
Naruto
Death Note
Pokemon
Inuyasha
Yuyu Hakusho
Tetchi Muyo I think it was called or something
Mezzo Forta

the thing about anime is that they focus more on the action (most of the time.)anime has the best fight scenes ever. in anime they make the charaters
stare each other down then WHAM!.out of nowhere they just start throwing fists and makin a good fight out of it by matching blow for blow.then it gets fun when they fight seriously

I liked Mezzo Forte, even though the sex scenes were a bit wild. 0.o

But, damn, the thing was just a fun little action flick. Nothing more, nothing less. Good to pass the time.

I’m going to ignore that goku kid for now because he has the linguistic skills of a dead rat.

Anyway, anime are cartoons, but not really in the sense that is associated with the term. I prefer actual cartoony cartoons (ie: Tom and Jerry). In fact, I think old Tom and Jerry beats just about anything anime or even Disney has put out in terms of animation quality and plain fun.

I was on a webcomic site and in the genre field, one of the options was “anime”. This confused me because I seriously doubted anyone on the site was from Japan, and was actually doing anything more than mimicking the style of their favorite anime. In the forums people would have really long debates on what defines anime and shit.
