2)Completely depends on the company, and it can also change depending on the day.
Generally you’re planting about 8 hours a day including/not including the ride to get the the block.
You hear some horror stories out there of workers planting crazy hours...but you go with a well known company and they’ll have pretty strict company policies about that.
That being said, on any given day you can work 5-10 hours. Sometimes you have to work late because you have to finish a block, sometimes you end early because you finished a block and there’s no time to start a new one.
3) Canada and the U.S.... Not so much U.S. stuff but I do know of people planting in Washington( with a Canadian company)
A lot of rookies start in Ontario, it’s easier to get a job, the turn over rate is pretty fast and they’re not as picky. There’s lots of work in Alberta and tons in B.C. There’s pretty much planting in all provinces but those are the major ones.
In B.C. it’s a different kind of planting then in Ontario, and within B.C. there’s coastal work and interior work. Coastal work is generally dominated by vets, but some companies will take on a few greeners.
4) You get paid per tree. Tree prices very depending on where you’re planting and who your planter for. It can range from an Ontario price of 7cents to a coastal B.C. price of 30cents. But it’s different kinds of planting...so in Ontario you’ll plant more trees then you will in B.C.
(also, I’ve always gotten paid direct deposit, but I guess some companies use checks)
5) This is the part I’m afraid you might not like. Generally, it’s 18+ that treeplant. Mostly because the planting season is in May when high school kids are still in school. There are summer plants, but you often can’t get hired on to those until closer to the season (mid-end of June). If you’re really ambitious you can always try for it, but pretty much you’d have to know someone.
Also, because of the atmosphere most companies don’t want younger workers.
Well I would suggest Ontario then as a starting point. I had a great first season up in Ear Falls/Red Lake area
But there’s not much summer work usually, so you might have to wait till you’re finished high school.

chuck treeplanting .. well .. not altogether .. .. but for heavenssake .. GO SOLAR FIRST !!!
.......huh?........
“going solar” doesn’t pay the bills my friend
nor does going solar make toilet paper or those really annoying junk mail adverts
Going solar DEFINITELY,
cuts fossil fuel emissions to NIL
cuts dependency on gulf states
prevents stress on the economy
causes more equitable distribution of resources
and so on...
also .. believe me or not . it DOES CUT YOUR BILLS BY A LOT MORE THAN YOU THINK
treeplanting .. NEED NOT .. but MAY Wait .. for we have a MUCH bigger task at hand .. which is cutting down carbon emissions..
quick question

how exactly do you get the tree in the ground?
i tried throwing it at the ground a few times but it keeps bouncing back into my face
