As a martial arts I must to say that... those two almost equal... unless for the arts... that goes to Martial Arts... Street Fighting has their own rules and arts... something that Martial Arts dont have... and martial arts have arts that SF dont have like body form and others...
SF cant win in turnament but they can win in street fight... I have prove that with my frens... and Martial arts almost run out of time fighting on the street...
Well... for arts and beauty goes to MA but for fighting skill goes to SF...
Only a few MA can handle street fighter like Gracie Jujutsu Family and we know even capoera and all those street fighting cant win againts them... but they were beated by MA...
I Like Rickson Gracie, Handsome and undefeatable...

Thats absolute bullshit.
Stretfighting is merely a sport where two or more fighters battle it out somewhere with the winner walking away with money or glory.
Many street fighters train in various disciplines of martial arts but fight in unsanctioned battles.
I myself have studied and become disciplined in the art of akido, judo, taekwondo, jujitsu, muay thai, kendo, wing chun and freestyle kickboxing.
A street fight is much like the old martial arts battles of old, weapons included. It wasn’t the touch for a point tournaments that are prevalent nowdays where everyone is aiming not to get hurt.
street fighting is a hark to the ages of old, where fighting was bloody, brutal and your life was very much on the line.
I think you all confuse street fighting with brawling.
Brawlers are undisciplined fighters, norm, ally of large body mass that rely on strength and dirty tactics to win their battles rather than skill.
Many street fighters are well versed martial artists, they need to be, lest they lose respect and favor with the crowd.
Street fighting is much like a full contact freestyle martial arts match/tournament.
It is painfully obvious that not one of you has ever participated otherwise you would know of the skill inherent in both styles of martial arts.

Um yes it is.
Street fighting is a fight unsanctioned by the governing bodies of the martial arts disciplines, say the American kick boxing association because it would be illegal to do so.
All martial artists are governed by a authoritative body that prohibits the use of their skills in any manner of combat unless it it is for self defense or a sanctioned tournament.
This his is further strengthened by the fact that it is illegal for fighters such as myself to apply excessive force in these situations as we are on a register of human deadly weapons, that is, our bodies are registered as a deadly weapon and we come under scrutiny if we are involved in a fight.
Street fighters are martial artists who battle outside of legal sanctioned matches for glory, practice or money.
oh sorry
got confused
how about wrapping leather straps around your hands then dipping them in tree sap then into a pile of broken galss before the fight

Has been known to happen, just not in that way. People don’t do the whole tree sap thing, but I have been in fights where fighters have been armed with similar styles of armory and weaponry.
I myself used to frequently wear soccer shin guards with metal plates bolted to them and metal forearm gauntlets to shield my arms against blows when blocking attacks form boxers or weapons based fighters.

Street fighting i wouldnt really say is a style, but rather a type of match while martial arts is a style.
but if u really want an answer for street fighting vs Martial arts, id say Martial arts.
Bruce lee was a martial artist, he went to fight on the streets and kicked street fighter’s asses many times his size.
Precisely. But you have to think, Bruce was pretty much a master of his art, whereas most fighters these days are not even close to the mastery of Bruce lee.
Who would win I guess would depend on the experiance of the fighters, regardless as to where the battle was fought.
But the land layout does matter in a fight, though, correct? If both fighters have equal experience in the exact same styles (hypothetical...) but one of them knew the land better than the other, wouldn’t the one that knew the lay of the land have a higher chance of winning? Also, would a can of spraypaint constitute as a weapon of any sort? I have Steal This Book and they call it a weapon, but...
