A nice little Thanksgiving treat for some. The infamous Unreal Engine 3 has been confirmed to be in development and being optimized for Wii. This comes from Mark Rein himelf. Check it:

Earlier in the year, Epic’s Mark Rein told Kikizo that there were rumblings of a studio - not Epic - bringing Unreal Engine 3 to the Wii. Speaking with us again in this new interview published today, Rein confirmed that an unnamed development team has taken up the challenge.

“I know one of our licensee who’s giving it a shot," Rein said. “It’s their own port, in the same way Ubisoft brought Unreal Engine 2 to the Wii.“

Personally I think it’s pretty obvious who. Most likely Ubisoft and for what game? Red Steel 2 of course. This also showed up in a recent IGN interview with the team at Ubisoft behind Brothers in Arms Wii game where they were asked did they license Unreal Engine 3. Their response was they can’t speak on that yet. So yea pretty obvious this will be used in Red Steel 2. Unless you think otherwise then give your thoughts.

^^^ Because you have.

Yes, it should be good news for the Wii owners, the Unreal engine is very flexible, expect good things from this.

Yes if you read the link it’ll mention in there it was rumored before. Mark Rein stated this before in an odd way but not fully confirms it.

But I’m still taking bets this will be used for Red Steel 2. Be interesting to see how this works on the Wii.

Many people (for some odd reason) believe the Wii can’t handle such Engines... lol

I mean, the Xbox could handle the Unreal Engine, why can’t the Wii? Especially when the Wii pushes out more FLoPs.

Something i’m wondering, however, is what dev will use? I know Epic will, but what other devs?

Um Ubisoft. Ubisoft is the one who optimized Unreal Engine 2 for Red Steel 1. Now I think they’ll optimize Unreal Engine 3 for Red Steel 2.

Not to mention look at this:

IGN Wii: We had heard rumors that Gearbox was initially exploring the option of utilizing a version of Unreal Engine 3 for BIA on Wii. What happened with that, if anything?

Stephen Palmer: We’re not really allowed to comment on that at the moment, but that sure does sound like a fun challenge, doesn’t it?

Gearbox is making that game under Ubisoft. I think it’s apparent it’s Ubisoft right now.

Yep. This may be the reason why Red Steel 2 was delayed it’s first appearance in that Nintendo magazine. Obviously hadn’t fully been able to optimize the engine yet. Just makes sense right now for it to be Red Steel 2 and Ubisoft.

Well if they get it right then more devs might use the engine for Wii games. Finally we’ll be getting away from devs taking an easy way out of using PS2 engines.

I guess. Maybe it’ll give devs a reason to stop making crappy looking Wii games.

Few were crappy.

Well mostly the 3rd party ones. Alot of them just use a PS2 engine. Seriously the most polished 3rd party game was probably RE4: Wii Edition haha. And Zack and Wiki of course.

But yea Super Mario Galaxy looked spectactular. I think that was the first Wii game made that you know couldn’t have been done on a 6th generation console.

Zack and Wiki is a point and click adventure by Capcom. Great game. Very difficult. Has a nice polish and artistic style. Very original.

It’s really really fun but really really hard. And you’ll have to get over its kiddish appeal at front becuase the game definetly isn’t for kids. To hard. It has that artistic style cause it fits the setting very nicely.

um no

Graphically it kinda looks like Wind Waker but it’s not cel shaded. Like a cross between Wind Waker and Lego Star Wars graphics. You know a cartoony plastic.
