life isn’t easy. everyone should know that. but, the fact that she would establish an emotional bond to someone that SHE DOESN’T KNOW, that, that i can’t rationalize. its ASKING for something like this to happen.
Excuse me? Like if a woman dresses provocatively she is asking to get rapped? It’s easy to blame a victim; don’t stoop to that level.
You don’t have to rationalize it, just understand that everyone is not like you. That’s all. Your life, what you believe, your education, how your brain works and how you were taught and choose to understand the world is different then anyone else(though it can be quite similar to others). You can’t take your mold of the world and expect others to fit into it they way you want.
On ADD and ADH ridiculously over-diagnosed. That being said, my best friend growing up was ADHD and even for the time she did take Ritalin it didn’t do too much. What she was like though was very different then a simple “can’t pay attention in class”. Kids with ADHD are effected in lots of ways.
first off, i would never say that. trust me. i know girls who have been raped. thats....its one of the most horrible things a person can do to someone else.
oh, so, your saying because she 'thinks different', that suddenly suicide becomes an option? suddenly running from your problems at the expense of everyone around you is all ok? your life is yours alone. whatever leads you to suicide, in the end, its up to you, the end result is your choice. ---

I used rape as an example because the idea that she was “asking” for it has been used and held up in court before. It’s a draconian argument and I don’t like to hear it.
I wasn’t trying to defend or condone her suicide. I was commenting on your lack of ability to rationalize or understand her emotional investment to someone online or her ability and reasons for her to take her own life.
I’m not trying to say someone else pulled the trigger, I’m not trying to say that she was left with no choice.
I just don’t agree with the the tone that I’m getting from what you’re saying. But unfortunatly I’m not sure I can really convey what I’m trying to get across either.
Again, not saying that suicide should ever be an option, but simplify this into “well, no matter what your circumstances you should just know, don’t kill yourself, there’s no excuse for it, you should be able to deal” isn’t addressing the problem. It’s a way of blaming the victim instead of trying understand the reasons behind it...which we can’t judge because we know next to nothing about her and her situation.
Everyone can make choices. The choice to be happy or sad for instance. But not everyone is dealt the same cards for making those choices. Internal and external forces change what kind of “choices” you have.
She was only 13, death should not have even been an option.
The world sucks and I’ve got work to do. ---

so, are you trying to say that its not her fault if she kills herself? does that mean that you think that other people should take responsibility for her life?
look, i’m sorry that i seem cold. i know it must come off like that. hell, i’m coming off as cold to myself. but, the issue of suicide, its always been something i’ve felt very strongly about. and, its rationalizations like “it wasn’t her fault, it was the person who bullied her’s” is what in my opinion leads to suicide. if you think like that, then when you end up in that situation yourself, suicide becomes the only option. cuz, after all, by that logic, its not your fault. its the person who caused your pain. pinning all the blame on them.
i get the emotional attachment. thats why she committed suicide. she confused her virtual life with her real one (at least, thats how i see it). this is why i say that those emotional connections to people online aren’t safe. and, i’m not saying that i’m fixing things. i’m saying that if someone does this, people can’t say that she had to do it or that it wasn’t her fault. i’m sorry, but i have no sympathy for people who end their own lives. not like this. but, i can see how people wouldn’t understand my viewpoint in this.
yeah, the world does suck. there is so much shit out there, and virtually no one is untouched by it. ---

You’ll need to read the article to understand my comments (unless you’ve already read about this elsewhere).
Unfortunately bullying and harrassment is not an uncommon thing. But an adult targeting a teen? What kind of sick, twisted woman would do that?
Personally, I didn’t agree with the family wanting charges to be pressed...until I came across the part where the fictional MySpace person told her the world would be better off without her. If suicide is illegal in many areas, shouldn’t it also be illegal to encourage someone to do it?
And it makes you think...how do the words we say online affect other people?
yeah i heard about this, kinda sad. --- alright the clans are back!!!! Lets revive the game section! | | | 28 Nov 2007 11:36 pm |

No, she did not break any laws.
I wasn’t speaking of a punishment from the law. I meant something like... she gets her ass kicked.
I dunno, it just pisses me off the way people act sometimes, I just felt she should be punished somehow, someway.
Thats all. | | | 29 Nov 2007 01:15 am |

ok, as far as that, yeah, i totally agree. as i said, people like this are the scum of scum. preying on the weak, that is truly pathedic. anyone who would do something like this...its just disgusting. its people like this that make me feel dirty to be human. its people like this that make me hate people in general. ---
