Yes i have read the bible, i went to christian school from when i was in kindergarten, all the way to middle school, and i even went to church from about that time, fancy that.
I think it’s all fine and dandy that you have religion, but my beef is that people blindly follow an unknown entity that may or may not exist, and has no evidence supporting it, not the ideals or whatever the church supports.
As for what happenend before the big bang, take your pick of scientific theories, some say that before the big bang there was nother universe, but that one expanded in on itself, and our was created, and such a cycle is continually happening, or another which says our universe is simply a small universe spawned from a larger one, and so on and so forth, you get the idea.
Yes i have had someone close to me die, several in fact, at first i was sad, but then i thought “why should i be sad, why not just remember them as how they where, and not try to grasp onto them like an ant grabbing drift wood in a storm”
I kinda think that god should be logical, if there were no logic in him then i could run around saying stuff like “HEY EVERYBODY, MEET MY INVISBLE UNICORN HARRY, YOU CANT SEE HIM BECAUSE HE CAN BEND THE LAWS OF TIME AND SPACE." and i couldn’t be disputed, even though i may have very well made him up.
As for the roman dieties thing, you pretty much said that religion is a fad of the time, and people will grow out of it the more they learn, to me that seems very reasuring.
Now for the older religions thing, those religions i was speaking of are still around, there are indeed still practicing wickens, and what ever the hell they practice in india (sorry, couldn’t think of it at the moment). As for christianity being more popular, i think thats because christianity promises more things after you die as rewards compared to the other ones, in hindu (thats the one) the best you can hope for is being reborn in the body of another creature. Seems to me the most popular religions are the ones that promise the best things, like mormonism, they promise that if your a good mormon you get your own planet full of virgins, and islam promises you your own palace full of virgins, see what i mean?
As hydra pointed out, miracoles seem to be anomalies that go against what is likely to happen.
Hope that answers all your questions for the moment, i just have one of my own.
Why is it that most of the holidays of christianity coincide with most of the ancient Wicken holidays? I.E. easter, christmas, and so forth, they all on almost the exact days of the wicken holidays, now why is that? (hint, wicken came before christianity)

Your putting up a strong arguement and I’m finding it hard not to agree with you as there’s a lot of truth in what your saying. In fact you anwsered all my queries.
Though your making it sound like the church has tried to trick people into believing in God, and that “most” Christians are ignorant and blindly follow the leaders of the Church. This is a bit of an over judgement don’t you think?
Ok, so the Bible does contradict itself and powers within the church have been using this to there own advantage recently, but this doesn’t mean that all Christians are the same.
I’m not a Christian, I’m just open-minded to it all, though I do believe that you do go somewhere after you die not because I fear death but it just seems to me that this life is just a small part of an endless journey.
I think I’ll probably no my mind better as I get older it’s the fact that no-one truly knows that makes me question but I guess Christians would say it’s faith that makes you trust that God’s out there.

I just think if you got a crowd of Theologists and and crowd of Scientists together in one room they’d be hard pressed to find the real anwser. You can’t deny this as they’ve argued before and no-ones ever won the argument so all I’m saying is that there must be more to the God arguement. As I’m not a Christian I wouldn’t no all the anwsers to your questions but I’m sure that a theologist would.
Though can I just add that you seem to be confusing God, with what the church and Christianity say is God.
As I agree with most of your posts and I’m now more clearer in what I believe too, I think it best for us to move on from this argument.

HESH Guest | Miracles will be classified as such until the time when we understand how they work, i can bet at one point in our very distant past people thought that fire or lightening were mirocles, so shall the ones you refer to be classified in the future, at least we can only hope.
No clare i dont really think that what i said was an over judgement, quite a few people i know seem to be blindingly following the church. For example there was a priest a little while back in my town, who secretly molested children, when he was found out he said that he was simply “doing the lords work” or he was “purifying the children” or some other crap like that, and most of the people who attended his church didn’t question that at all and just went right on going, so im sorry if im a little judgemental of christians being stupid, thats just my personal experience.
And i do agree that we should change to a different topic for debate.
