I think Thanatos is life taker not using blast like Darkseid... it seem that someone that can destroy dimensions anywhere and anyfar cant kill Darkseid...???
Destroying universe for Hades is easy pal... they want more by taking earth they can control our realm (our universe)... Hades has their own universe too... Athena and All her saint destroying Hades universe and all his dimensions... anything more MB...???
destroying galaxies can be done by Hades and all his specter... but they also can destroy universe or dimension if they wanted to be...

As the god of death, Thanatos is able to cause death to any kind of living creature, no matter the distance. He is able to find his intended target, and attack him/her without the need of physical contact. He is able to inflict excruciating pain on his victim, and cause instant death.
He is seemingly capable of psychokinesis, as stated by Ophiuchus Shaina, when she, along the Bronze Saints,Eagle Marin and Aries Mu’s apprentice Kiki were attacked by the god, and were unable to detect the origin of the attack. The only one capable of detecting his energy blasts was Kiki, because he is skilled at psychokinesis.

Thanatos can prison Darkseid in his dimension just like he did to Zeus and Athena... Thanatos is Life/Soul Taker...
Note: For Zeus case Hades give him an order to do that...

Sorry,but Darkseid also has his powerful Omega Beams which is capable of erasing Thanatos from existance
His Omega effect.
His main power is the Omega Effect, a devastating form of energy that he fires from his eyes, able to disperse the molecules of most objects or organisms, effectively erasing them from existence. Targets can also be reformed. The beams are also capable of teleporting a target to any location Darkseid chooses, then recall it later. Darkseid has pinpoint control over his Omega Beams, and his unerring aim allows them to travel in straight lines, bend, twist, or curve around corners, and can pass through matter and energy.
And Darkseid is doom to be defeated ONLY and ONLY by his son,Orion.No one else has the power of doing that except Orion.

You know Zeus can create the big bang erasing life etc... but Thanatos got him in instant and prison him in his temple... Hera and other gods try to attack underworld if Hades not free him... You know Apollo, he even can create the big bang and assimilate his universe and our universe in the blink of an eye... his power can carry all stars in this universe (you can calculate it by your selfn not just planet but he also can grab the stars on his hand) his hand can shut down entire stars in multiple universe with ease but he still cant go to kill Thanatos if Hera not allow him...

I’ll Go with the guy named Manchester Black.Darkseid almost Single handedly defeats the Antimonitor,the being who not only destroys universe,but absorbs every positive energy matter from the universe he destroyed.
And count yourself that The Antimonitor has destroyed thousands of universe,absorbing their positive energy matter yet nearly get his butt destroyed by Darkseid.
Darkseid is not as weak as you thinks he is.

Darkseid can’t beat Doomsady,and this is shown when he fought Doomsday and Doomsday still beats the crap out of him in “Round two: Hunter/Prey”
And the Doomsday clones was defeated by a combination of Superman’s heat vision,Batman’s batrang.You can’t ignored that Superman helped Batman.
And in this case it somehow a contradiction and an irregular storyline to please Batman’s fan,while showing him being able to kill Doomsday clone.
This story clearly ignored that Superman cannot be hurt even by the ORIGINAL Doomsday,where Superman said:
“You understand now, don’t you? You will never hurt me again. You will never kill me again. Never again!"
You can’t just take out one plot out of the whole story to prove your point.
