There were quite a few imps in the forest on OoT, but skull kid was the one that you sung saria’s song to when you were a kid. you can tell in that video i posted, skull kid says

Alight list but a few problems
Nintendo owned:
Captain Olimar- Has a good chance since it is now Nintendo’s youngest franchise but it can be made possible with moves like pulling more pikmin for support
King K. Rool- fair chance since DK already takes the heavyweight class of his franchise and KKR would play sort of like a mix of DDD and Bowser, besides he really did not tend to have his “stand alone powers”
Ridley- great chance since his stage is there and he has his own music theme plus they would add another actual character from the Metroid Universe into the game
Waluigi- no, really just someone from the backrounds of Mario games, only starring role he had was as the villan of DDR Mario Mix, not really a villan, not really ment for a Brawl.
Baby Mario & Baby Luigi (fight together) No definity not, like Waligui these are backround characters in the Mario universe just ment for support and they really have only fought in M&L PIT, plus they would overload the game with Mario Characters.
Bowser Jr- Good chance, he has made a signficant mark in the games and could use the paintbrush from sunshine as his weapon
Lucario- Strong chance, if Nintendo wants to add at least 1 4th gen pokemon as a fighter this could work and many moves could fit perfectly like Aura Sphere as a charge move, extreme speed as a slide special move( sort of like fox illision) sky uppercut for upwards special, and reversal for a down move yet it would work special like Wario’s fart, the more damage you take like every 35-50% damage you take in it could work a little like a charged counter of the fire emblem guys.
Toad & Toadette (fight together) Toadette get real, only playable in the party, sports, and kart games. Toad can work well though for he is very fast and strong as shown in Super Mario Advance (Super Mario Bros 2) He could be a different light character sucks at jumping but very fast and strong plus his moveset like Peach could take stuff from all over the mario series in which he has done stuff.
King Boo- no too many mario characters
Wart- yeah no
Third-party characters
Banjo & Kazooie (of course fight together) MS owns them now and it is very unlikely unless retro allows it then they can come in since they did fullfill the need of having to be on a Nintendo system at least once.
Mega Man- strongest now after sonic
Master Chief- This is what everyone would want but it can never be for the fact that MC is a FIRST PARTY CHARACTER, bungie may have split from MS but they are keeping the Halo franchise to MS platforms, this will NEVER NEVER HAPPEN.
Rayman- Only if they allow 1 more after the last 3rd party character they may include.
Cloud- If you count being a summon on just 1 game then yes but this is very unlikely, could be a assist trophy though, if you want any FF character try Ceil from 4.
Spyro- Hell no
Crash- Hell no, like Sypro sure they have started in numbers of games but they are so below the wanted list they would not fit in with the rest of the SSB gang.
Moogle- And this thing would fight how?
Zack & Wiki (fight together)- No 1 game is not enough to get a starring role in SSBB plus these guys cannot even fight, I mean their game was a point and click adventure.

And about Waluigi and the Babies being BR characters. Diddy Kong is a BR character also and he made it, (sure he isnt as much of a BR char. as the others but still, he is one) so I think its posibily Waluigi can make it. The Babies dont really have a chance.
