See “Hunting for sport” sounds bad

“Oh I want to kill this wild animal just because I want to”

but the thing is that if not for the billions of dollars that is earned through hunting/fishing licenses, and taxes on the equipment sales and tourism. Then chances are the fisheries, water quality and habitats would be far worse than they are. That is the money used to restore Lake Ontario and Lake Eerie from the toxic pools they were for almost 30 years

Trophy kills are rarely more than one per hunter, per season if they are really avid hunters. Some never take a trophy. In most case Any other kills are eaten by the hunter, or friends/family.

More hunted species die as road kill, than as trophy kills.

Very good points James. Also things like noise pollution, light pollution, deforestation, and development projects do more damage to wild animals than hunting does.

Sometimes you have to take a risk and kill an animal, even if you love animals. I would never hunt for sport. I eat meat because I was born a meat eater and it might be hard for me to change. To those who do not eat meat we should thank for taking a risk, cutting a food out of there diet so animals can be safe.

You aren’t Japanese... =/

I don’t think killing animals is wrong, depending on what animal you kill and for what purpose. Common animals, eh, I could go with hunting for sport, and as mentioned, we do things worse to deer and the like than hunting them.

Now, killing a rare species that may go extinct, I could say...Meh...If they’re dying out, don’t contribute more to it.

But I’ll eat a cow, since it tastes good. Same for chicken, or shrimp, or any animal-based dish. Granted, I prefer pasta to anything, which I know is oh, so healthy...

Point is, I don’t eat too much meat. Meat is good for you, but not in great quantities. Veggies is where its at, and not iceberg lettuce. Spinach, hoes. I’m a bona-fide Popeye.

I would, however, kill an animal if I really needed the food, and by any means necessary. If it calls for some sumo, I’m in.

Also, if you wanted to ensure a serious debate, the On-Topic would’ve been preferred.
