Shogun Guest | Alright ladies and gents,
Can’t all get along?
In light of the recent Halo 2/Half-Life 2 debate, I would like to put forward my somewhat moderate opinion.

Shogun Guest | Halo 2 is an excellent game. It lives up to, but does not surpass the promises of Bungie. I would like to fill you all in on the fact that Bungie is an excellent software developer and made groundbreaking games for Macintoshes.
Halo 1 was the game that made me fall in love with the FPS genre. Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Tribes, Unreal Tournament, etc. To me, the story was excellent, not to mention the impeccable acting by the characters. Halo still has groundbreaking AI, and level designs were more than satisfactory. Graphics were nothing special, but again nothing to laugh at.
I suppose I could say I joined the cult. Halo has a widely diverse fanbase, one that reflects a game with wonderful depth and immersive gameplay. One could even compare the fanbase to that of Half-Life.
I played Half-Life a little while after it came out. To me, it seemed like another Quake in an era of Ghost Recon. However, I understand that in 1998 it was something rather special. Of course, the video game industry development is like a train speeding down a steep mountain, getting faster and faster. Thus I grant Half-Life a lot of leverage when it comes to comparisons with later competitors.
All in all, I like to beleive that I saw Half-Life in it’s decline, when it was no longer special. You are free to tell me it is excellent game. I will not argue.
On to Half-Life 2. I have not played it, but the graphics look amazing. They outdo Halo 2 by miles, and even make Splinter Cell (renowned of course for its wonderful textures and lighting) look like crap. I also hear the enemies are excellent. So, I dragged you to the end of this mammoth post to tell you that I still don’t know, but that I think it isn’t right to point fingers. After all, Halo 2 and Half Life 2 are very different games.
Lets hear your opinion, not your reckless fanboi-ism.

BiLL GaTes PWNz ur MOM Guest | HL2 was simply without a doubt one of the most anticipated games of ALL time. From the moment its screens hit magazines and stole the light from Doom 3 to its source code being stolen from hackers, HL2 made geek history.
The graphics are phenominal...no game out there that’s available TODAY is able to technically surpass it. Yes UT2k7 looks to shake things up when it’s released, but as it stands today, HL2 pwns in that department. Ragdoll physics and interactivity in this game rocks...if it weren’t for the leak last year, it would’ve been the most revolutionary game since...Super Mario Bros? Story-wise, great...not too deep, but good enough for me to keep playing 'til the end.
Halo 2 is fun. It combines everything that’s great from other games and does a good job doing it. HL2 is a game that’ll lead the way for a new wave of games, graphically and everything you can think of. CS: Source is bad ass btw.

As for multiplayer CS:Source is an update for the original, unfortunatly with nothing new to offer except for HL2 physics and new graphics and slighty different weapon physics. I guess they were scared to add stuff after they screwed it up with Condition Zero... its fun... but its just the same game as before with a few new maps, and VIP mode removed which I loved so I was really dissapointed by that.
Halo 2 is a good game, but the single player isnt anything special I felt. The first few levels were awesome, just what id expect from a Halo game, but then I felt it just got really bad... too much emphasis on vehicles, and it wasnt as tactical or challenging (although it was harder in legendary.. but thats not what I call a challenge.. the elites were easier to kill compared to before and didnt require any real tactics to get passed unlike Halo 1)
However where Halo 2 shines is its multiplayer, I love it, plenty of different modes to play, some great weapons which are fairly ballanced (people still whine about some but its just because they suck.. there are tonnes of great weapon combos to be used)
So as far as im concerned:
HL2 - best singleplayer
Halo 2- best multiplayer
