Thx to recent VGCharts updates this weekly update of sales will now also have software. Awesome eh. Europe/Other covers the region of Europe, Austalia, New Zealand, and all Asian countries but Japan, and any other place that is not on the Western Hemisphere. This section of the gaming market represents approximately 35% of all sales.
Anyways first off to hardware. I’ll list the hardware, this week’s sales with percent increase or decrease from last week, and LTD for the region.
Wooh quite the sales there. For the entire week, 1,384,638 gaming hardware were sold. Nintendo hardwares accounted for approximately 60.8% of those sales, Sony hardwares accounted 31.6%, and Microsoft hardware accounted for 7.6% of the sales.
Now onto more intricate details we’ll start first with DS and Wii. DS had collosal sales. The past 3 weeks its sold more than 1.3 million units in this region alone. The Wii has also replicated what the DS has done but on a smaller scale obviously. But DS and Wii are hitting the markets where it really accounts. Of this entire region, the UK and France account for approximately 45%-50% of sales. In the UK DS and wii accounted for 70% of sales last week, and 73% in France. Very impressive. Got to hit the large markets the hardest and that’s what Wii and DS are doing, but that’s not to say they aren’t doing well in the other markets. But the other markets seem to have a little more spreading out of sales showing less dominance of the Nintendo brandname.
PS2 and PS3 are still holding their own despite being in a region with strong Nintendo dominance of sales. Although they didn’t do as well in the UK and French markets, they did however get most of their sales from the other 55% to 50% of the markets where they either split sales with DS or Wii or beat them, well Wii at least. DS sold on top in all individual regions.
PSP continues to stay on top of the 360 and is getting enough sales in the regions to have a respectable number, although is clearly getting overshadowed by DS, which almost 6:1 it in sales this week. 360 continues to hold its own but its apparent its reign here is dead and now fading out. It only holds strong sales now in the UK and Other regions which just isn’t enough to give it really high sales. As I said 360 reign is dead, as Wii has officially passed it in this region. Wii is now the leader in 2 of the 3 major regions.
