its safari 3.0 beta.

according to apple its 2x faster than any other web browser for mac AND PC, and ive tested it and i must agree it is pretty fast.

it looks very apple like too.

i recomend you at least try it to see how you like it

i just found out you can also resize the area that u are typing in. so if you got something big to say you can spread it out for easier viewing.

I downloaded the first beta a while ago...

..the text looked all weird, and I couldn’t figure out how to open a new tab either.

From the looks of it, it lacks the customizable features of Firefox or Opera. So, in other words, it sucks.

If there is a difference in speed, its negligible. Loading the same pages in Firefox and Safari, I noticed no difference. In fact, if anything, it felt as if Firefox loaded it faster. Testing it on another forum I go to, which is heavier on bandwidth and rendering, Firefox actually went faster. I’ll do more comparisons later.

And another note against it, its taking considerably more RAM to run. Yeah, real nice...

As far as looks go, it looks better than Firefox does standard, but see, in Firefox I can get themes that look FAR better, so if I cared enough, Firefox gets the point there. Also, Safari lacks add-ons and such, so its just not as good overall.

Hell, IE has add-ons now. Shame on you Apple.

And I hate the text. Its normal is too bloated and blurred.

Now, against Opera, I’m not sure as far as speed goes, but Safari does properly render moviecodec, whereas Opera does not.

A nod to Safari; it passed the Acid2 test, whereas Firefox fails. Firefox will too, though, in Firefox 3. And its not too big a deal, mainly because Opera also passes, but it doesn’t render necessarily as quickly or as well, but that can also be attributed to web developers.

only bad thing is the bookmark thingie is a little awkward and mvc isn’t laid out quite right.

That should be fixed in later builds. The only problem with this site I had in Firefox 3 is the same I have with Opera, the New Topic button is displaced. What I like most, though, is Firefox 3 doesn’t take up any more RAM than 2. That’s good coding, especially since they’re pumping newer security measures and a more powerful renderer.

I like the new favorite button though. Now, I can be even lazier.

As for Safari, my biggest complaint, and the deal breaker, is it needs add-ons. Its pretty sad there are none.
