Anyways, here is my problem.
I recently got a new modem from a different company. It’s a cable modem is it’s way faster then my last modem, except the upload speed, it’s slower...
Here is my problem, when I connect the Ethernet cables for my 360 and PS3 into it to get online on those, the cable either does not fit, or if i manage to get it to fit, it simply does not work.
I’d appreciate any help or suggestions.
And I can post pics if needed.

If it doesn’t fit, you have one of two problems:
A) You are using the wrong cable
or
You aren’t plugging it into an Ethernet port.
You could also have a firewall on the modem that’s keeping it from connecting to the machines. You should do a connection diagnostic check to see where it fails when you connect. If its a DNS thing, the modem isn’t connecting to the ISP as it should. I had a similar problem in my DSL modem and I had to access it by typing in the modem’s IP in my web browser, accessing the machine, then manually inserting my ISP information. ---

I figured out why it wouldn’t fit, my cables are just to worn out, the hook on the top is old and won’t stick.
Anyways, I have a new cord to use.
On both systems, it says my IP fails.

If your Ethernet cord is busted, use a new one.
If you have already, your modem may have a firewall on it. You might have to go into it and turn that off. Most modems have built in firewalls, by the way.
I’ll find a link that helps you with modems based on brand and model. ---

You have to access it by getting into the modem you are using. To do this, go to this modem model list and find your modem model. Each model has a universal IP that you use to access it by typing it into a web browser. There, you get access to the modem and its settings. Firewall should be in there, but DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING UNLESS YOU DO A TAD BIT OF RESEARCH ON IT! I fucked up my connection by doing that. ---

My PS3, i still can' tget past the IP issue.
Dammit! Who the hell makes these things? Are they retarded? It can’t be that hard to make everything open, allowing the buyer to actually use it.
