I have a Motorola SurfBoard SB5101 Modem. Brand new. I got a new ISP as well.

1. My download speed is faster then my last modem. hurray! But my upload speed is lower then my last modem, why?

2. I also cannot connect my modem to my PC via USB, it’s supposed to be connected either way. I want to have it connected by USB, however, I get a message saying it can’t detect it or an IP error. it works fine through Ethernet, however.

3. It will not allow me to connect my 360 or Ps3 online. it’s either an IP fail or a DNS error.

4. I heard buying a router would fix the above problem. True?

5. If I have my computer connected via USB and my 360/PS3 connected via Ethernet, would it work?

6. RageOverdose suggested my modem may have a firewall, how do I disable this?

I keep asking here because Customer Support is full of idiots. They didn’t even know what a PS3 was!

Seriously guys, I’m having a lot of trouble here. no one in real life knows how to help, and Customer Support is full of retards.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I think you may need a router, try amazon.com , cross-mark.com , compusa.com
