They caught her. A long while ago most likely. The crush thing is actually really old.
But as far as I know conviction is or was a problem due to the lack of strong animal cruelty laws in China.
I’m with Atresac on this one, it’s all perspective. Have you ever swatted at a fly or stomped on a spider? Ever slapped a mosquito that was trying to bite you? Probably at some point. Do you deserve to die then? Nah, insects are small and annoying. Crushing kittens is more wrong because you think they’re cute.
A life is a life. We all kill, directly or indirectly. Even if you’re a vegetarian and you’ve never intentionally killed a bug, even if you do everything you can to be environmentally friendly and you recycle and whatever else you want to do, at some point you have caused death. So don’t pretend you’re any better than the kitten-crushing chick. Do I think what she did was right? No. Do I feel sorry for the kitten? Yes. But let he who is blameless cast the first stone...
Also I see where Firewolf is coming from. I’m not a big fan of our species, personally. Other animals kill because that’s just what they’re programmed to do, that’s how they stay alive. Humans kill for no real reason through ignorance or even for fun. How many species have we caused to go extinct? We overpopulate the earth and don’t leave room for anything else, for all our complex brainpower we can only think of ourselves, we deplete the earth’s resources at an alarming rate, we alter the very climate through our irresponsibility, and unless things change, soon enough the human species is going to die right along with all the others. If I was the last woman on earth I honestly would let us go extinct. Does that make me a bad person? I dunno...there’s my two cents though.
