Clement Clarke Moore wrote that at the end of his poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas”
The poem was first published anonymously in the Troy, New York Sentinel in 1823. It was reprinted quite a bit afterwards. Credit for the poem was later given to Clement Clarke Moore not to mention it was later included in an 1844 anthology of his works.
