I mean, come on... i myself enjoy gym and everything it has to offer, but does it really help the people that don’t like the subject and just end up eating dozens of donuts the second they get home? This doesn’t have much to do but did anyone have tennis as a sport in their middle school? (current or past...)
i dont eat doughnuts
unless there tim hortons
also i think its a way to show kids you can have fun in classes
like i play hockey all the time and all the gym does is help
i think its also necessary because some kids all the excersize they get is gym
Exercise is very important. In fact, without good exercise, expect your life to be very stressful at times. It relieves stress, helps the mind work, and also keeps your body running properly. That and sunlight, so exercise in the sun and you’re set.
I was exempt from gym class due to my physical disabilities, and thank God because I hated the class with a passion. However, I will not discredit the need for children to be active. If gym will do that for them, then good. I do have some complaints with gym, though, from when I used to be in it. Most of the time, the teacher just left the kids to do some activity such as basketball, dodgeball, laps, or something aerobic. That’s fine and all, but there needs to be more than just letting students run around; you should also teach them other aspects of fitness which go beyond physical activity such as diet, breathing, etc. Of course, I could also have an argument with the subject matter they would present on that topic, because I think the doctors and physicians in this country need to burn in Hell and actually give a shit about us, but nevertheless, you needs to start somewhere.
Actually, the only problem i have with gym is that while everyone’s running, the teachers are eating pastries... (donuts and cupcakes...) right in front of us... we even had a sub ( i know... subs aren’t important... but still) that seemed to be obese, and he was sitting down on a bench the whole time... sort of a bad example... you guys do give good reasons though and thanks...
I don’t think it should be mandatory.I knew a guy who was a genius at math, but absolutely crap at gym. He hated himself for it, so he was getting bad scores at math when he should be getting higher, but gym made him kinda deppressed.

You aren’t one to comment on this. You claim you can’t climb your stairs without feeling exhausted.
I doubt you’ve done ANY of the things I’ve outlined for you to do.
As for this topic, I think that physical fitness should indeed be required. As a matter of fact, I’m currently trying to get JROTC at my high school. A major aspect of JROTC is additional physical fitness.

So because I’m absolutely crap at gym, I don’t have a right to speak?

I didn’t say you don’t have a right. I was saying you aren’t in a particularly influential position.
I’m willing to bet that if you were more physically fit you wouldn’t mind it at all. But then again, we never know these things.

Nope. If I was the fastest runner in school I’d still hate it.
You don’t know that for a fact. There’s no possible way for you know that.
And don’t you dare claim to have the lucidity to transcend our current reality, because you can’t. Nobody can.
Nobody can every truly know what a situation would be like under different circumstances.
Dude it’s natural. Some people hate math for instance. Even if they were as smart as Einstein thye might still hate it. I naturally don’t like gym. I hate running and getting sweaty.

I love it because I’ve gotten used to it.
If you were the fastest runner, it would be because you practiced. If you practiced, you would be exposed to such conditions and could potentially learn to ignore or even love them.

Little things can change you in big ways.
I will not get used to it. I think I’d probably be better sitting back and just giving up on this dream.

You say this based on now. You either don’t or refuse to understand what I’m telling you.
*sigh*
If you’re going to have such an attitude about it anyway, then why should I give a shit? Go ahead. Let your health dwindle until you fall ill and lose the ability to function in everyday life because you let yourself fall behind as a child.

See if I care.
I’ve always been a sickly child, never really up to standards, kind of like Edward VI. I can’t even dfend myself against colds, so what chance would I have against something like flu, or cancer?

By strengthening yourself physically, you strengthen your immune system as a side-effect. Physical health leads to improved overall health.
Trust me dude, I’m an example. I used to be sickly. Since I started exercising, I never get infectious diseases at all. *knocks on wood*
