I think we should be allowed to host an avatar somewhere else and have it be displayed here. As long as it meets the 100x100 thing.

I made a really good one but it’s apparently too big to host here (file-wise). If I compress it any more it will look like shit.

Its based on the size of the file, no more than 25 kb is allowed.

have you tried saving it as a gif to decrease file size?

you can normally shrink the file by half or more by saving it a s a gif.

Thing is, avatars are stored in the database so they won’t be lost. This is because, unlike the signature area which uses the same BBCode as the forum, the avatar is in a place where the information is displayed based on what the server has stored. So you really can’t do it, and its no different on other forums.

all phpbb forums, in the avatar area, there’s an upload avatar area, and an outside avatar area.
