Thats a fair reason.
That said though, there are still anime series and movies out there that are, as you prefer, detached form reality and have no real basis in any sort of human elements, just like western toons.
Howls moving castle, pom poko, slayers, excell saga are but a few of the more detached fantasy style anime.
How about Trinity Blood? That is kind of detached from reality isn’t it. The story is based on a martian disease that infected the some of the human population or Terans, and turned then into vampies or Methusala I think they call them.
The protagonist, Abel Nightroad, is a Krusnik, and artificial vampire created by nanomachines. Along with his dispised brother, Cain, they both feed on the blood of other vampires.
Or even Eureka Seven, which is set on another planet for you that are unaware. Earth has been destroyed I believe and the remaining human population live on a distant planet with their enemies the Karalians.
I don’t know the correct spelling of these words so tell me if i’m wrong. ---

Response Guest | I can see where your coming at.BUT there are different genres in anime, from my observations...you like shows that don’t require much thinking, shows that are fun and easy to follow, you watch tv solely for that kind of entertainment....this is just a guess but you like slapstick comedy don’t you?.....there was a big hit back in the 70’s a show called Lupin the III, exactly matches your description, the 155 eps will be gold to you, or just rent the masterpiece Castle of Cagliostro and then feel free to come back and complain that anime is too complex and not fun and boring.Lupin the III should be enough proof that Japan can produce easy-to-follow storylines, yet being fun at the same time, a very rare kind of classic that comes once every 50 years.Oh and Lupin the III inspired Cowboy Bebop. The show might change your opinion or not, I like anime and you don’t...each to his own.

Absolutely agree with this guy Lupin the III can please just about anyone,my favourite anime. The Action/adventure/comedy is so crazy your INSANE if you don’t love it, probably the most lovable anime cast ever made in both american cartoons and anime. I personally don’t like anime(exceptions included) but Lupin the III really blew me away, I mean american cartoons that came out at that time were Flinstones and Scooby doo.Hell even Steven Spielberg had commented on the movie “Undoubtedly one of the best Adventure films ever made." Those of you who say animes over 100 eps suck, you couldn’t have been more mistaken.
