Which system will win in the long run. In good games sales etc......
What do you think and explain why.....
This could very well help me decide if I am going to get a 360 or PS3 cuz I like them both the same, ask MOO I mean I have tried this for like 6 months and still 360 and PS3 are both awesome and I will prolly only get one

sony is providing support for their ps3 for 10 years. last gen say u had an xbox then the xbox 360 comes along. micrsoft almost straight away cut off complete support for the original xbox and now ur left with ur old games.
how ever the ps2 has still got loads of support with plenty of games still coming to it, and then in your own time you can buy the next gen console. so 360 may last u another 4 years while ps3 will last about another 8. i own a ps3 and can say that it has alot of future proof stuff. u can already help cure cancer with the damn thing. imagine wat else we can bloody well do with it
I voted 360, because even though Blu Ray is winning (and will probably win) people buy game consoles to play games, not to have a DVD player (very few do and most have DVD players already). The fact that will determine the winner are games, and to be honest, 360 has the best games out there atm.

In 10 years Sony, MS and Nintendo will well have their 8th gen console out.
The PS3 doesn’t cure cancer, Stanford students dont have a computer so they leave their PS3 on to do the protein calculations for them over night. Something they can easily and much better do with a normal high end computer. This wasn’t something Sony went ahead and said “Hmm, maybe we should make it so that this console can help cure cancer!" same as the Wii being used as a treatment for War returners. Its something that helpsbut wasnt implanted in the console.
As for the 10 year thing. By the time MS releases their new console (which they probably will BEFORE Sony and Nintendo) the latter two will already be hard at work with their new console. By support, I believe they were reffering to the same support they are giving the PS2 whcih has been very good if you ask me.
In the long run, obviously sales wise PS3 will be on top. Why? The 360 only has appeal in 50% of the world market, noteably the Americas. And in the Americas it is unable to take majority share, which only allows it to get small market share in the world. Secondly PS3 sales right now in Europe/Other, Japan, and their 3rd place sales in America, is enough to outsell the 360 in America and its pathetic sales everywhere else.
Right now as the Wii continues to push 360 further back in all 3 markets, PS3 at least still has a stake in Europe/Other and Japan, and can only go up in America as 360 falters. As much as Xbots would love to believe that taking America means taking the generation, this is false if you can’t actually take america with 100% dominance, which obviously isn’t happening.
IN response to P. Moore, if you think the PS3 will last for 10 yrs, then you are an idiot, as PS3 would have to not only win this generation, but win by domination like the Ps2 and Ps1. It is physicaly impossible for PS3 to win in the same dominant form as the PS1 and PS2. Meaning Sony will have to be competitive when the 8th generation starts, which’ll most likely start in late 2010 or somewhere in 2011. PS4 will have to release at the latest 2012, which will phase out the PS3, especially if its not in first place, which is the most likely scenario.
