Ha.

I love it.

Honestly, as much as I love Technical Death Metal; give me ?uestlove and The Roots any day. I’d far rather listen to someone grooving than overplaying for the sake of it.

It takes practise to achieve technicality. It takes talent and a love of music to groove.

It also takes talent and a love of heavinessicityism to play technical drums.

tbh there’s shitloads of Jazz drummers that can out-technical DM drummers.

I dunno.

I think groove takes more talent, personally.

There are also jazz drummers who are also technical dm drummers.

Example: Sean Reinert.

Flo Mounier springs to mind also.

Every once in a while, there comes a happy marriage of technicality and groove.

Hey I love groove!

I love groove as well, but overall technicallity for me. Actually, it usually just depends what form of music you are talking about. Technicallity sounds good for some, groove for others.

Hey, if you hate the percieved hip-hop lifestyle and attitude, just ignore mainstream so-called 'hip-hop' and look for the real stuff. Old school or contemporary underground, it’s all out there and it’s all good.

I hate the gangsta bling-bling of mainstream rap with a passion.
But I’m in love with real hip-hop which has creative and sometimes quirky sampling, talented MCs who talk about real issues and get a message across.

And I’m not close-minded, either. Give me some metal and who knows, I might enjoy it. Although hip-hop is my one love I’ll always stay open to and appreciate other musical styles.

Progressive, Psychedelic, avant-garde, doom and ambient/electronic styles of rock and metal are what I’ve been really into lately. I still listen to thrash and death metal, but lately I’ve just been very enthralled by the “different” kinds of music.

Oh and as for rap, I don’t listen to it but I have no big problem with it.

This is what amazes me, how the cultures of metal and rap seem so close at times. I have the same ideas about metal as you do with rap. Do not look at the mainstream. Look at the classics and at the underground. And yes, I am very open minded to other music as well.

Agreed. Even rap and metal fans can agree on certain things.
