atheism is just a belief
religion is just a belief
fighting and hating is pointless. it just brings more hate into the world. why not RESPECT each other’s beliefs?

All you have to do is look not on these forums, but history. Our country. Look at all the hate there is towards atheists right now. We are the least trusted and most hated minority in America, we have under God in our pledge of allegiance for what is supposed to be a secular country, most of us can’t even say that were atheists in public without people harassing us. It’s not people and their beliefs that I hate, just the way they act on it. When people try to subvert science for Creationism, that is not okay for me. When I have multiple Evangelicals knocking on my door at 8:00 in the morning trying to convert me, that is not ok. When people become so ignorant that they think America is founded as a Christian nation, that is not ok. I could go on and on but I think you get my point. You can believe whatever the fuck you want because I really don’t give a shit if you believe you were made from a dirtman and a woman’s rib or that god had a son to sacrificed himself to himself. Just don’t try to impose your beliefs on me.
Also, where did you get the idea that atheists blame everything on religion? I don’t think I’ve met one atheist in my entire life who blames EVERYTHING on religion.

i met someone like that on these forums.
“most of us can’t even say that were atheists in public without people harassing us”
so you take it out on religious people and their beliefs.
you don’t need to like the radicals but why bash people and their religions?
thats all you have been doing for the past year on these forums.
we get the point. your not happy about radicals treating you like shit but your being just like them except the only difference is your an atheist. i see no difference between you and the radicals that happen to be christian.
and no, its the same for several christians in this country, they cant say shit because a radical who happens to be atheist will treat him like shit.
both sides have radicals, dont be one of them. dont hate.
and the pledge of allegiance. whats the big deal? just dont say under god. dont force them to not say under god just because you dont believe in god.
if you dont want to say under god then thats fine. more power to you. but dont force people to not say it.
really, i respect both religious people and atheists but the fighting is just stupid. all your doing is taking it out on everyone else who is religious just like the radicals that took it out on atheists. it goes BOTH ways.

Dr. Matt Rep: 48 Joined: 07 Jul 2006 Posts: 14,538 OFFLINE | You know why your argument can’t hold ground? Because there is a HUG difference between criticizing religion and being radical about it. Debating religion on some online forum is NOT radical. Even if I decide to bash religion, it’s not radicalism. The only reason you consider it radical is because your religion revolves around the center of your life. It’s expected that you would get defensive or upset when I criticize theism but don’t get so defensive as to call me a radical. If you see no difference between me and radical Christians then your obviously blind. If you want a more in depth description of what I’m trying to say just go to this link
And it is a HUGE deal that the words under god are in the pledge of allegiance. Why? Because not only is it unconstitutional, but it’s promoting religion in a secular country. Do you know how those words got into the pledge of allegiance? Radicals. That’s right. The very same radicals that you were just talking about and are against are the same ones that got under God put in the pledge of allegiance. To make it even worse, you suggest to “dont force them to not say under god just because you dont believe in god”. Hmm..... you hate radicals, yet you agree with what they did. Interesting. Now let me ask you something. Why did you say “dont force them to not say under god just because you dont believe in god”? Do you realize it’s a two way streak? But anyway, I’m not forcing them to not say it just because I believe in god, I want the words under God taken out of the official pledge of allegiance. Like I said, having under God in the pledge of allegiance is unconstitutional.
