--- Theory is not a guess or hunch. A theory is a logical, self-consistent model. I am a theory. I’m logical and self-consistent about eradicating religion. Um. I guess a theory is a hunch because I’m a hunchback. In fact, I am the hunchback of Notre Dame. It’s ten cents a ride. | |

No, that’s adaptation. It’s adjusting to your surroundings. Evolution ONLY goes forward. Adaptation can go back.
Semantics. I agree that science and religion are similarly based upon theory and faith (the beginning of the universe for instance. Sure creationism cannot be proven as having a hand in it, but the big bang is now widely questioned too. Belief in either is based upon making up one’s own mind.
Personally I believe that science explains the 'how', and cause and effect, but not really the 'why'. The universe could be explained in any way, but there will always be the question of what happened before or what was the catalyst for the scientific origin. Neither science or religion is absolute, nor are they mutually exclusive, which renders this debate ultimately infinite.

science has never claim absolute, where many religions have.
The big bang is only widely questioned by those who don’t bother to learn about it.
Sure the spaghetti monster cannot be proven as having a hand in the big bang.
We have faith in things that are consistent, but religion relys on blind faith.

However, when people use science as a stick to beat religion with it is usually stated as if it were absolute, the same way some religions state their beliefs as absolute.
Of course I shall have to take any further mention of the FSM as blasphemy
