Wakarimashita — -> Since you already know what he explain
Wakarimasu — -> Basic word for understand
Wakatta ka ? — -> Slank one for already understand but for question

Wakarimashita ka? — -> Formal word good for someone who we dont know...

Ah, I see. So Wakarimashita means “I get it”, and to put ka at the end turns it into a question.
