My thoughts:

1) The whole point of music would come back. Artists would worry more about people liking their music more than making millions on their next album. A singer can release the shittiest most crappy music ever in their new album, but it would sell like hotcakes anyways because of advertising. Music would be better if artists weren’t in it for the money.

2) People won’t need to worry about things being legal/illegal if it’s all free. Not that most of us do, but for those other people...

Anyone else have a reason why music should/shouldn’t be free?

The artists shouldn’t be in it for the money. They should be in it to make good music and to get famous by popularity, not money.

that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever hears sure they’re in it to make good music but with out compensation for there work I doubt there would be many people interested in being professional musicians

Seriously though.

Artists that become rich and famous know that they can slack off on their next album and it will still make them money because of advertising. If people didn’t have to pay for the music, it wouldn’t make the artists feel that they can slack off on their albums.

Hell, people make videos on youtube for free all the time. They don’t expect money out of it, they just do it for fun and to get attention. If people don’t like it, they don’t view it. The biggest reward on that kind of site is to get tons of views and praise.
