cid actually isn’t that bad of a mod as some people claim him to be. we actually came to an agreement last night. i don’t really know much about firewolf or totalitus. cept that firewolf agreed with me that we both like the cops theme song and tv show. and totalitus helped me out when my monitor was failing horribly. so mods do what they can regardless whether you like them or not. and ty and me had a chat about the whole rtiys attack sometime last week and he let me read a chapter of his story that he is currently working on, which is an excellent read. so mods aren’t that bad, you just have to get to know them. they are all right with me. each and everyone no matter what has happened in the past. nobody is perfect after all. i know i’m not. so don’t always try to blame them for your problems when they try to restore order here.

Back then, it was Bjarne, anonymous, frightF00, and I think someone else who left. Even when I was being overly bitchy back then (which I was all the time, thank God I don’t so much anymore) I still found Bjarne to be one of the coolest people then.
I think back then Bjarne was actually on pretty much every day, maybe gone for a few days at a time, but pretty much always posted.

Well, to be honest, what I think happened is all these mods started coming in and it became a “game” between the members vs mods and then just went downhill from there. Whereas before, there were more serious debates going on, but with the added flaming while debating and that’s where I think the members cried for more mods. We kind of f*cked ourselves.

oh come on please...most of you, i expected this bullshit. but, you, travy? are you honestly trying to tell me you haven’t noticed how much less flaming is everywhere? there are almost never hate threads anymore. that used to be an every day thing. i don’t remember the last time this place has been spammed. this is PEACE for mvc. we have a handful of users who are trying to stir up some trouble, one of them is starting to be me, but in all reality, do you honestly think this is anywhere near what it used to be? the main games vs thread started allowing PORN in it because things got so damn tense there were fights 24/7 unless there was something to take everyone’s attention off of how much they fucking hatted each other. now their all buddy buddy. this is the most peace i’ve EVER seen on this sight. if what it is NOW is going to hell, i don’t even want to know what it used to be.
I saw one user get flamed at for asking what a mod was. TTSW is making the most idiotic topics now, RTIYS is consistently getting worse, and it’s starting to bug ME.
My patience has fucking run out. I frankly don’t give two shits and a ball of dirt what it was like. The problems we have now are so easily solved (and to the good members, annoying as fuck) but I haven’t seen them handled well at all.
Fuck, I can look back on when I first joined, and shit like that I would love to have again. It was mostly mindless blabbering and jokes. HIROSHIMA used to be a bit of an asshole, but it was even fun with Nazi Spy going against him and rooting Nazi Spy on like a childish spectator. Maybe Hiroshima and Graham were the worst then, but at Graham’s earlier days he was fine too.
Hey, don’t forget our old buddy TaurusX. He had to be the worst. But yeah, those were the funner days of codec. What’s funny is there were no moderators back then except for Bjarne and he was never on much at all.
Haha, I never much knew Taurus but from what I heard about him he was a pissy bloke. Could’ve been Hiroshima too, I never found out.
Back then, it was Bjarne, anonymous, frightF00, and I think someone else who left. Even when I was being overly bitchy back then (which I was all the time, thank God I don’t so much anymore) I still found Bjarne to be one of the coolest people then.
I think back then Bjarne was actually on pretty much every day, maybe gone for a few days at a time, but pretty much always posted.
I don’t think he was Hiroshima, but I do know TaurusX was the only person to get a IP range ban (I think it’s called). But Yeah, Bjarne was a lot cooler and lenient with rule breakers than most of the mods now. What I can’t stand is the little shit member that report every day stupid offences.
The little guys that report everything aren’t as bad as the guys who start shit for pretty much no reason, or complain of the slightest thing they find wrong.

Well, to be honest, what I think happened is all these mods started coming in and it became a “game” between the members vs mods and then just went downhill from there. Whereas before, there were more serious debates going on, but with the added flaming while debating and that’s where I think the members cried for more mods. We kind of f*cked ourselves.
Yeah, in a way that’s probably true. Though look at what it’s become now. Has it really gotten any better, or just a hell of a lot worse?
Seems more like the latter to me.
Also, it probably wasn’t just the number of mods, but also the increased leniency. Bans were changed from permanent to variable, things that were warned before now are never warned, and what I find odd is that back then, more warnings were issued because of all bans being permanent. Now it’s more a warning, then a day ban. =/
Plus, I don’t think the forums being split so much now is helping at all.

I say we need the exact opposite.
This is the only forum I’ve been on that has these problems at such a high level. The reason is because the other forums are much more strict.
But there’s soon to be a wind of change on the forum. And if the senior members don’t like what’s going to happen, they can leave and make way for a new wave of members.
We’re about to overhaul the rules and step up the strictness. It’s the only way to make this a more respectable forum and gain new members and see it grow.
