To get the unofficial bullshit out of the way first of all:
This site has gone to literate Hell compared to what it was when I first joined. Yeah, okay, it seems to be better than it was a few months or a year ago without the hate topics, but when I first joined the worst trouble we actually had was Nazi Spy spamming and HIROSHIMA, maybe Graham at the later days. Those were the times when Bjarne was being accused of being Taurus, or Hell, Nazi Spy one time.
Now what’s happened to those type of things we could sit back and laugh at?
Yeah, time’s changed. That’s just fine, time’s always change and things come and go.
Now, though, we’ve gotten to the point that a person asking what a mod was was fricking flamed for the use of improper grammar. Nazi constantly used improper grammar, and made huge posts, but we even came to love him as much of a trouble maker as he was. Everyone had some sort of tie with him and even some of the people who hated him came to like his odd ways.
Now, at the mention of any “noob” or new person, there’s a swarm of others that seem to love to attack them, just for being new. We all were. Heck, I was attacked before too, but that was because I was being a jerk and an idiot; the type of reasons someone would be attacked.
And on another note, I’ve been told the site is boring without those type of things. Why did I have so much fun back before those type of things exploded?

Now with that out of the way, to get some of the more official BS in here.
The issue of conflicts between new (not necessarily to the site) people and old people is being more and more evident. Attacks to these people have happened quite frequently, and many that I have seen have been largely unprovoked. There is also a similar incident with a user named Skittles666 who, with another user named Derdev789, have been bantering back and forth for what Derdev says has been over or around a month. It has even gotten to the point that, I’m sure many know, a moderator’s account was hacked and used to ban the former member.
I would rather not address the other prominent and obvious issues that occur with Read This if your stupid (and various alter-accounts). As many I’m sure know, that is a fairly prominent problem that appears to be gradually dulling down.

As Nazi Spy said before he left, this place is going downhill. I’m sure that there are many problems that I have forgotten to mention, but my remaining mental energy has practically been all but expended. I would like some feedback from the moderators first BEFORE I gain feedback from other people. (most preferably, I would like to hear from some of the older Moderators, such as anonymous and Bjarne, although I doubt either will read this)
I feel there are problems that could be fixed if we actually tried, problems that, if fixed, could make this site enjoyable without the excess of flaming and the near immediate exclusion of new members.
That’s all.

-Ty D.

If you aren’t going to read it in full (and actually get the message that I asked for moderator feedback first) then please don’t comment until you have, as I won’t be summarizing anything.

You know what the true problem is, TR?

The members treat the newer and older members completely differently. I’ve seen so many damn old members get away with things that a newer member would be banned on the spot.

It spawns hate, spam, and complete idiocy.

I’ve been calling for a revision of the rules, to cover more ground, for quite some time. As it stands, moderators can only so much before members become irate and begin to attack the moderators that are enforcing the rules.

An overhaul of the rules, providing more clarity and possibly even stepping up the strictness at which those rules are enforced would most likely serve to solve the problems. As most of the issues you’ve mentioned are done purposely to be just within the rules.

You can either wait for that to happen, or we can enforce the rules more efficiently and strictly without Bjarne’s consent, and if somebody complains, you can tell them to go fuck them self.

after reading that i have to say, ive been trying to tell the same thing to everyone, about the noob or newb flaming... most memebers think that it you are a noob if you havent been here since a given time, most say that time is 2006 or 2005, but i say that they are all crazy... you see some people making friends with newbies to the site and the internet, some like myself and spencer, but then there are those who shun newbies just for being new to the site... i went through it, spencer went through it, and dispite being here for just about 1 year, we are still being tourmented for being “new” to the site...

another problem i see is that the mods are TOO different with their modding styles...

For example... the one that made that totaly notice able... was the fact that the member Omega88 was banned for a month for calling someone a fag, but yesterday when atresac called spencer a “noobfag” which is esintualy the same thing, he got nothing, not even a warning, sure him and spencer got yelled at for fighting, but nothing about the name calling... it is my understanding from the rules and from what ive seen over the months that ive been here, that calling someone a fag is worth at least a 24hr ban... but seeing the events of yesterday im starting to doubt the mods...

i know you asked for the mods oppinion first, but i just had to get this out...

ya the some of the mods are totaly biased about who they yell at for breaking the rules... new or old, it doesnt matter, breaking the rules is breaking the rules, there shouldnt be any exeptions...

To be frank, being moderators, we should be able to define the parameters of the rules to our own consent. As the webmaster, Bjarne would be the one creating the rules, and we as the moderators would be the ones defining the limits. (I think recently, he’s been putting more of the duties of the site upon us anyways. Besides, he has all the programming and stuff to do, so I think it would be better for us to take that crap off his shoulders)

Nerevar: That’s really true as well, although I don’t think it’s as much of a problem as other things, it does serve as a key root. I’ve personally been trying to improve myself on those standards, but being naturally lenient I’m seeing no real progress. =/
Whether other moderators are guilty of this as well or not, I don’t know nor have kept much track of.

Me and Rageoverdose submitted a huge set of rules to Bjarne some time ago, Bjarne liked the idea and said he may add them, he never did.

Not to mention, from what I can see, he is never on anymore. It seems like he just left the site to the Moderators. If the mods do not like the current rules, or believe the current rules do not do a good enough job. Maybe the moderators need to change it themselves. =/

Also, I, for the most part, agree with TR.

As pointed out above, we enforce things far to differently. Some moderators are more lenient while others are more strict. Some mods enforce certain rules, other mods don’t.

I couldn’t tell you if this is because of a poor moderating team combination of if the rules are just too undefined and unspecific to be a reliable guide or not.

However, I think the general consensus will be that we need to be more consistent and strict. Which, I’m willing to do, but only if the rest of the team is willing to go about it as well.

Even though I’ve usually been the cautious person, I’d be one willing to be more strict. I’m slowly learning to use my pissy side a bit better now lol
Perhaps setting a moderator-formed set of rules with examples? (this may be elementary, but for some it could solve a lot of things and help even it out)
