I recall when there was a topic surrounding an animosity between to members, I stepped in not as a moderator but somebody who actively took sides. I can assure you it worked out by itself most of the time.

Now when you take a side, the other side only gets more angry. It’s not like how it used to be. These flame wars continue day in and day out.

As you might have known, one of these flamed wars compromised site security when a member took a mod’s account to ban somebody he had be quarreling with.

If it were the way it used to be, there would be no complaints in the first place.
I was AIMING to get things to how they used to be, or something close to it. Some place where everyone could have their wanted fun bickering back and forth or just hanging out. None of this flooding shit or things that go on for a week or more. People aren’t sorting things out anymore on their own, people are being ignorant etc etc.

Yes, and what needs to be understood is that in order to get those more relaxed freedoms that we once had we must step up security. Show everyone who’s boss. Get rid of those who only seek to run off members with excessive flaming and trolling.

Once we get the members accustomed to behaving we’ll be able to start relaxing the rules again, because the site will be, more or less, tamed.

Eh, if things align right, we could start to teach everyone to be governing themselves.
If, of course, things worked.

No, if we take away what you find interesting it will do what every other forum does, flourish.

Unless of course those who don’t want change become spiteful and ruin it for everybody.

A lot of it even sorted itself out except for Zucas constantly going in there.
Then each of them left.

the point is, that is more flaming from more people then is here, or has been here for the last year.

It’s more of a prolonged example of what Moviecodec was like; sorting out it’s own problems. It didn’t really get to finish and Zucas I don’t think made anything better, but he was the only real problem by the end of it. It settled down from anybody who liked the rev, to just Zucas. Problems nowadays are just constant bickering with nothing getting solved or truly accomplished.

sorry to say this, but if someone doesnt like the change thats going on, i think they should just leave and make their own free forum and start keeping things the same as old codec or something... that might teach them that they were wrong about change being bad... or at least keep them happy...

Well thats fine, but you need to accept it.

Forums change, new members come, old members go. The site grows in size, the style changes, the rules change.

This is not NEW moviecodec. This is simply Moviecodedc. there is no old Codec, it’s all the same thing, it’s just changing. It happens. Especially for such an old site.

Seriously, you just need to accept it and move on.

And even if things don’t work out, it will fix itself overtime. It always has, and it will continue so.

I’m thinking of a response that address your rebuttal completely.

that thread flourished because of the hate, until it was eventually locked. and, no, it was more then him. it was any nintendo fan who went in there. not that it matters, because, if you remember, i support flaming. but, i think that is an example of when it was in excess.

I’m suggesting that when a forum gains popularity, more members come. When more members come it has to be moderated more strictly. When it is moderated more strictly it flourishes.

Look at this forum.

http://forums.adventchildren.net/

Now look at the rules they have in place.

http://forums.adventchildren.net/faq.php?faq=acf

That forum has over 27,000 registered members. Over 80,000 threads created. And nearly 3,000,000 posts made.

MovieCodec could be that, if things are handled better.

why should the old members have to leave? that makes no sense. your saying that because the people who just got here don’t like how it is, everyone else should leave.

I am an advocate for change for the better. Overall, the quality of the site has improved exponentially. The issue comes with administrative status and power. Where do we draw the line?

I have no line. Everything is relative. I do not change from that, ever. I ban when I need to, otherwise, I moderate and let known.

I went in there and got flamed out. A few weeks later I went in there again and again and I was even accepted, and I was a big fan of the revolution at the time. They sobered down a lot from when I first walked in there.

im not saying old members should leave, im saying anyone who has a problem with the changes that codec is going through should leave and make a freeforum or something with the rules of old codec and just hang out there or something..

No, they don’t need to leave. They just need to have trust that when everything is said and done it’ll be better for everybody.

This site has proven to be addicting. No body will leave just because of a few rules. We are just trying to make it a better place for everyone.

That is exactly what I’m trying to get at here. I’m glad that you agree.

We have to make it good for all members. That means supporting the wants of new members just as much as we do old members.
