Okay so what brings me to answer this question was, I was at school today and I somehow got in to a religious debate about God and Evolution and such. I asked these people why they believe it, the general responce I get is “Because I don’t want to believe I just die” or the classic “Look outside." Argument.

I mention the Kill homosexuals, witches, nonbelievers, disobediant children thing and they get pissed off at me and then they say I am misinterpreting these things, Please, If I am misinterpreting these verses somehow, please show me errors.

They also seem to bring up the ten commandments and such and of course when I try to tell them what evolution is and some proof they say “THERE IS NOT PROOF” and they say “We did not come from monkies” and such.

So why are they like this? I try to be rational and calm about it but they can’t seem to be the same.

Why do Homosexuals get touchy when you attack their lifestyle? Why do Democrats and Republicans get snippy when you attack their party? Why do some evolutionists and creationists get offended when you suggest that theory is not the same as truth?

All people have beliefs. When you suggest that one belief may be right and the other wrong, then you tread on the toes of the people who hold that belief. People with smooshed toes tend to be touchy!

Yeah but the general responce with Christians is they say “Your going to hell” or “It’s obvious that there is a god, so your stupid” The only reason I didn’t get these responces is because they were my friends.

I would then say that the Christians who gave those responses were acting arrogantly and hypocritically.

It’s their belief, some people like to believe there is something after death. It’s so primal and instinctual they willingly defend it.

It’s really that simple. You can’t break it down farther then that. =/

And there is no proof for either possibility, just so you know.

Ive questions gays about their lifestyle before and they seem more embarrassed then offended. Attacking a party is not questioning it. “evolutionist” or should I say rationalist get offended when someone lies through their teeth, I think people just dont like hearing the truth, about what they though was truth.

Theory does not mean an unsubstantiated guess or hunch, as it can in everyday speech. A theory is a logically self-consistent model or framework for describing the behavior of a related set of natural or social phenomena.

Those were old testament commandments and were dropped during the coming of Jesus (in Christianity)

Btw, “you’re going to hell” is not a threat, THEY aren’t the ones sending you to Hell. You should at least be grateful they’re spending time to help save you from suffering, and whether Hell is real or not that is a decent thing to do.
