Imo, it’s not just about having new mods. It is, but the site itself (imo) like i said back then, should be set up differently. Like a full Vbulletin type forum, so that bjarne never has to code anything, and mods can run it, and add and enforce rules because being mods could do things themselves without having to rely on bjarne.
plus there a lot of practical benefits (as part of mod) in having a vbulletin type of forum. Those sites have full range of user-friendly (for a mod) options and filters and measures to control the website, to stop things happening, etc.
There are many many vbulletin type forums that i go to, some that inspire hatred from people who got banned, etc, and they never get hacked, etc.
that’s why they’re built imo and have become a standard format that all forums use. there’s ongoing dedicated technical people and devs who keep the vbulletin format up to date etc.
bjarne cant be expected to be on this forum 24/7 coding manually everything.
i love bjarne, and part of what i was saying is that it helps free him up from all this, while also empowering mods thru vbulletin type formats to have full access to how vbulletin itself works, they can go in and create a forum that is solid, keeps spam out, punishes people, allows certain people privileges that others dont have etc.
then a mod’s job can be easier but also more rewarding, as they literally have power to make changes, make the site better. etc.

Get a mod to post a message in off-topic and games telling people the link to feedback and that there’s a meeting to be held.
get as many poeple genuinely interested in discussing the site, the forum, ideas and suggestions, as we can.
once we discover the problems, and get some kind of consensus about what would help make this forum grow, but also shake off some of the problems it’s having, then we can possibly have a better case to email bjarne.
rather than everyone rifling off a hundred PMs and emails to bjarne and looking like a mess. got to be organized and professional in our approach.

And of course, bjarne himself may have his own personal reasons for sticking with things, promising more contribution, which then stops after a while, and chaos and problems emerge again, the site starts dying again.
But just gotta keep nagging at bjarne. and imo, it actually would HELP him more. Seeing as WE mvc people are the ones using it, living in it, 24/7, then ultimately the people have the power imo. We are the ones who bjarne should do what’s best for us in terms of functionality as users, and functionality/control as mods.
Nerevar....transition if possible, keeping peoples post counts because they bitch so much about it.

whats the point of having 30 thousand post counts in a forum where no one goes to anymore? where all your old and new friends dont even bother coming anymore.
i can think of a million things that would make people ga-ga having a fully functional vbulletin forum, with special sections, chats, competitions, prizes, serious blogging that promote their gaming blogs into NG4, more functions, easier funtions....for users.
while mods can have all the power in the world to convene together and establish a whole bunch of powerful rules and controls that make this site manageable.

bjarne imo, for his own and our benefit, should be convinced again that we want it how we want it. and i cant see the problem for him, because he owns it, always controls it, but mods for instance have full power under the format of vbulletin to change and add things as they see fit, because vbulletin itself will 'replace' bjarne.
then we here, the mods and users, can create a community for ourselves that is for the good of all users. we have the power in other words to change and make MVC as good as we want it.
