1. lounge.moviecodec. it could stay the same domain name. or be mvc.com or similar. that’s not too important. the thing is, moviecodec.com (original) would remain what it is and a link from there to here and our own vbulletin. and a link back from here to there. there-guest posting. here-none except lonely thread, maybe another popular one like the videogame thread or the longest thread.
2. design of the site...i would rather we make it a whole new spanking different design. something really modern and cool. also, with vbulletin, we can have different themes. default, black, white, blue, etc, or different things like animals, sports, video game, etc themes. so people can choose their theme too.

Also, warning systems could be setup for the mods.
A mod sees someone break a rule. They can click on their name and see if they have been warned lately about the rule, or if they have been warned too much recently.
Along with many other things, it could make being a moderator far easier.

and with different themes then we can get people here who are cluey in designing stuff like that to create themes. user-created themes that the mod/admin can upload and install.
it makes people feel proud of the site, and everyone gets friendly thank TR,say, for creating a kick-ass theme. people are contributing, feel PART of the site.
it also helps some of those people in refining their skills or learning new skills like how to design vbuletin themes.

the reputation bored is more anoying then anything. it can stay but it’s just lame. the ubber poster restriction thing is just bs, and it turns away newer people. also guests should be able to post. it gives them a chance to get a feel for the site before they decide to stay. that’s how i got hooked.

This was something I suggested, allow guests to post. If it ever gets bad, mods/Bjarne flick off the switch. Then they cannot post.
After the incident settles down, flick the switch back on.

it gives people a reason to want to reach uber, just like the custom rank gives people something to work for... its just to make sure you wont gget in it and up and leave with you already in the rep...
im ok with guest posting on a few threads, video game, longest thread, lonely thread.
but if you give them power to post around the site, to start threads, you’re inviting trouble imo. spam, flaming, disruspting a site for the hell of it, etc.
registering is free geez. it takes 5 mins big deal. imo i wouldnt let them have any, just view. but i can agree with video versus, longest, and lonely threads.
but let this be a consensus vote. i just advise against it. it works for hundreds of forums out there, no reason it wouldnt here.

i dunno the stats but it’s far less than either of those two, far more vandalized, flamed, spammed, hacked etc. it also allows guest posting!

anyway, i think this got us further than the other topics like these did...
So essentially you want to separate from the site. I understand your separatist attitude clearly. You don’t like guests so you want to move the entire social community off the site and fuck them with rules. If you want to leave, fine. Don’t try to bring my entire social community with you.
Everyone’s claiming guests are the source of all the spamming and flaming on this site. Blame the guests. Sure, why not, they don’t actually visit the site regularly. You’ll never see them again. Perfect targets.
The majority of this complaining is coming from the latest generation of noobs. An attitude comes to mind; Let’s just blame the people below me. Oh wait, wasn’t that generation the same that was complaining that the senior members looks down on the noobs?
No one’s ever considered the fact that it’s themselves to blame for guest immaturity. No one accepts a guest into the community as easily as before. Perhaps it’s those who make them feel unwelcome, and it makes guests feel that they have to fight to be accepted into the community.
You people should realize that the majority of hits coming to this site are actually guests. Removing them wouldn’t result in what you desire; more members. Be guest friendly.
