These are two closely related genres in the metal world. I don’t know too much about Grindcore, but a bit about Death Metal, so I am not sure. I would like to see what others think about Grindcore, and possibly post some videos or songs if possible.
I just voted Death Metal since I listen to it and know more about it than Grindcore. I also just want to see the votes as well, so ignore my vote as of now.

Yes, Slipknot sucks major balls. They fail at every level. But I have started listening to some Grindcore, and some is actually very good. Unfortunately, most of the time it is crap.
I would rather not listen to any kind of “core” music, but I’ve heard a couple bands that were alright.
Death metal by far though. Bands like Zyklon, Animosity, Cryptopsy (None So Vile), Behemoth (Demigod), The Faceless, and Opeth have consistently brought plenty of good music into the death metal realm and have inspired many more.
Those are only a few, there are many other great death metal bands out there. The ones listed were mainly the ones that gave me the love for the genre.
The technical riffs and beats, intense drumming, vocals that are brutal as hell (and really tough to perform), and the soft melodies from such bands as Opeth, are completely orgasmic.
