Well blu-ray is owned by teh BDA and this is composed of many corporations, yes Sony “lead” teh BDA at baby times, but now it has more than 18 board members
Those are teh board members (teh big bitches).
So my idk if it works like this but, Nintendo and MS would need teh approval of at least almost every board member in order to join teh BDA, as members (members!).
My guess Sony would put it’s foot down and try to deny them access at any cost, but my question is can they really do that?.
I’m asking as I’m very clueless on this, specially legal technicalities.

dude they dont need to ask for permission seriously man...
but Miyamoto has said that Wii’s successor will have HD capabilities, my guess Nintendo was waiting to see which format came out as winner to then use teh winner as gaming format
