Yeah, I don’t have a problem with nu-metal fans unless they’re the annoying stereotypical kind that hang out in malls and wear a different Korn shirt every day and start stuff with random people.
I just prefer not to listen to the music, thats just my personal taste though.
o ya for sure man..its the same with me i just cant listen to any black metal band or hardcore death metal music (and thats just thay way i am..like i tried soo alot to get into those 2 types of music but i cant do it)
and yep kide wearing different slipknot and korn shirts everyday in the malls have to be annoying.. but in the mall i work at i see all the emo’s wearing their mcr shirts or their other emo punk band t-shirts.

Yeah, scene kids just annoy me... but theres nothing anyone can really do except tolerate them I suppose.
And Extreme Metal is a very difficult genre to get into. I can definitely understand that.

and ya it is hard to get into that music.

I absolutely love bands like Opeth, Katatonia, or Porcupine Tree. Opeth has to be one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time.
I listen to alot of classical/symphonic, folk, ambient, blues, and some industrial.
awesome ya Opeth is in my top 10 i would say (i have all their albums) right Porcupine Tree love them..(King Crimson is good to they might be touring with Porcupine tree in the summer)

Wow, wars between subgenres. This must be pretty exclusive to Metal.
And btw, if we can’t hear what they’re saying, it’s shit. Even the most basic singing should form words recognizable to the human ear. If it doesn’t, it’s just grunting. And you know what? It’s horrid. I don’t care if it requires a “trained ear”. You know what? If you ate cockroaches ever day all your life you might get used to it. That’d be an “acquired taste” but would it change the reality that it is, in fact terrible, compared to all the other flavours out there? No. Same with these vocals. The singing sucks. Even if you get used to it, it still sucks. Even if you could hear the words, they have a horrible voice so it doesn’t matter. I don’t know how anyone could like it (no, I’m not a “nu-metal” fan, and I’m not defending “nu-metal”).

What the hell are you going on about? I can understand the words just fine. And since when has music ever been all about the vocals? Not everyone thinks the vocals sound horrible, some people actually enjoy the brutality.
Like I’ve said lots of times around this site. Extreme metal isn’t meant for the casual listener, so if you’re someone who’s looking for catchy tunes or memorable lyrics, you aren’t going to find any enjoyment in metal.
Extreme metal is like classical music. Usually, it is not a repetitive genre with a repetitive riff like most rock or rap, instead, it keeps changing. If anything, it has more of a sense of technicallity and creativity than the catchy tactics used in mainstream music.

Yes, but this is music, not eating cocroaches. It is all an opinion. Death metal is pure art, plain and simple
And you cant hear what opera singers are saying, even in english. I guess it is not music then.

“Singing” is simply a musical tool. In this case, it adds to the intensity.

Yes. Anyone can pull off a Slipknot riff extremely easy. It is all three power chords. If you want technicallity, look at death metal and thrash.
This is not difficult.
Notice an 8 year old can play it?
This is difficult.
Slipknot are sellouts. That is how they make money. They adjust their sounds so they can attract kids to liking their music. Slipknot combines influence of pop, pop rap, pop punk, emo, and rapcore to get more listeners.
They give grammys to pop bands only. Not the underground bands where the true beauty is.
You can like what you like, but I am sorry, the truth is they don’t really care about their music or fans, but about your money.
