And you cant hear what opera singers are saying, even in english. I guess it is not music then.
I didn’t say either of them weren’t music, I said one of them was bad music. I said it isn’t singing, and it’s not; it’s gargling.

Saying a genre of music sucks doesn’t make you a troll or mean you deserve a personal insult. Isn’t that what YOU are doing here to Nu Metal? By your logic, that makes you a troll.
And you didn’t “stump me” either. You cannot rationally expect a quick response to all of your posts. Did you ever consider that I might have simply forgot, not cared or assumed the thread died? Because I only saw all of your responses before posting this message.

Mozart wrote concertos when he was 15. Does that mean it should be easy to write concertos of that qualityt at that age or older? This might simply be a talented 8 year old. Most 8 year olds couldn’t do it.

You said earlier that it is crap. I dont think you would call opera crap would you? So musicians NEED to sing? Music must be a very shallow thing. For god’s sakes, folk whispers alot, hardcore yells, etc. All because their vocal style is experimental does not mean that it is crap. You don’t have to like it, but it does not instantly mean that it is crap.
So what? Mozart was a genius. His IQ was in between 180-190. Slipknot’s members are not. All of Mozart’s stuff cannot be written by a kid. Mozart is pretty much a one and only.
I would consider two months after the post a stump. I waited for months. Now here is your response.
I did not start the thing here. I am no troll. At least not here. Being a troll can be fun. I am just stating that I do not like Nu Metal and stating the truth that they are all about money and not the actual art.

And btw, if we can’t hear what they’re saying, it’s shit. Even the most basic singing should form words recognizable to the human ear. If it doesn’t, it’s just grunting. And you know what? It’s horrid. I don’t care if it requires a “trained ear”. You know what? If you ate cockroaches ever day all your life you might get used to it. That’d be an “acquired taste” but would it change the reality that it is, in fact terrible, compared to all the other flavours out there? No. Same with these vocals. The singing sucks. Even if you get used to it, it still sucks. Even if you could hear the words, they have a horrible voice so it doesn’t matter. I don’t know how anyone could like it (no, I’m not a “nu-metal” fan, and I’m not defending “nu-metal”.
Ok, if you cannot hear what they are saying, it is shit? Since when was music ALL about what they are saying? Most classical music has no vocals, so I guess it is shit. Opera singers, you cannot hear what they are saying so I guess that is shit as well.
Since when is grunting horrid? I could say the same about singing and it is the same thing. It does not require training to like it. You either like it WHEN YOU FIRST HEAR IT or you just don’t. Like beer, you either like it or not. It does not mean beer sucks. By the way, we are not talking about eating cocroaches, we are talking about musical tastes.
The FACT it is terrible. I hate rap music. So it is fact that it sucks. That is completely idiotic for you to say. All because you do not like something INSTANTLY MEANS it is a fact that it sucks? Who are you to judge what sucks or not?
I like the grunting. End of story. I could say the same about rap vocals. I do not understand why they like them, it means the same thing. I can say I hate singing and do not understand why people like it and it means the same thing.

Firstly, let’s get one thing straight in your comparison of opera and metal singers. By “trained ear”, I mean trained to LIKE the music, not trained to understand the words. I can’t understand what Rammstein is saying but I still like it, because it sounds good. That is why I used the comparison of a cockroach by being able to like the taste of the cockroach, not recognize its taste.
I know I said: “If you can’t hear what they’re saying, it’s shit." but it’s not what I meant. I will admit that that specific statement was wrong, but I still stand by my main point.

If grunting sounds so great why don’t you stand next to the toilet door when someone is taking a shit and listen to them grunting thinking; “Damn, that sounds awesome."

It’s fact to me. Whatever I say here is obviously going to be my opinion unless it’s a quote from someone else or sarcasm, I shouldn’t have to point that out every time I say something.

I know, I’m just posting the reasons why I don’t like death metal. It’s all you’re going to get for arguments between things such as music genres. Opinions, not facts. Don’t judge me for saying a music genre sucks when that’s exactly what you’re doing here to Nu Metal.

I replied to this with my other post, but I think I’d prefer a musical work with no singing than one with bad singing. It’s not the fact that it doesn’t have singing, it’s just that the singing is bad and reduces the overall quality of the music which would be better off without it.

Mozart is not a one and only, there have been many prodigies throughout time and Mozart could merely just have been one of the more recognized. Also, just because music is harder to write or play doesn’t mean it’s superior to simpler music. Though for the record I actually think Slipknot sucks balls and Mozart rules, I’m just trying to underline a point.

Yes, but I haven’t spent months preparing this response, I’ve only JUST read the replies to my post on this thread. I didn’t check to see any posts after my original and when I logged off I forgot about it, but when I logged back in a moment ago I saw it on the main page and I remembered. Why should I have remembered? I don’t normally post in the music section, I usually stick to the religious threads.

You are still agreeing with the statement. All I’m stating here is I think that some of the genres you think are better than Nu Metal aren’t that great, even though I don’t like Nu Metal anyway.

How can you be trained to like a musical form? I liked it the first time I listened to it. The only trained ear works in death metal is being able to handle more and more brutality, because most people are not able to handle alot of brutality, but then they get used to their music’s heaviness, and take it to the next level. You do not need a trained ear for ANY music. It is either you like it or don’t. End of story. You even said that “if you cannot hear what is being said, it is crap”
If Ramstein sounds so great, why don’t you go to a Nazi protest group yell Seig Heil! over and over. Now, I know you will say “It sounds nothing like that!" but that is the same with death metal. It sounds nowhere near like a toilet. If a vocalist is able to sound like a flushing toilet, I would be impressed. That would be quite hard to do.
It is FACT to you? How can something be FACT to a particular human? Are the laws of physics or science overall distorted in your world? I think not. You just do not like it. Plain and simple. It does not mean that it sucks.
I never started bashing Nu Metal or its fans. I stated my opinion, but never once did I say that “It is fact that it sucks” or “the listeners are morons." I am stating my personal opinion. One thing I stated that was fact was that they were sellouts, something a lot of Nu Metal fans do not really understand. I do not like Nu Metal, but I never judge people whether they like it or not.

There is no such thing as bad singing. All that is in our opinions. I personally love the death metal vocal style. It sounds intense, emotional, different, experimental, and just overall, atmospheric.
So you are saying that there are many Mozarts out there and only one throughout all of time was noticed? You would think that some people would look at these people and say “Damn, he has got talent." If there were others like that, I think we would have heard about them, don’t you think? Of course if something it is simple does not mean that it sucks. Smoke On The Water is one of the simplest songs in the world to play, however, no one can beat that incredibly simple, yet amazing opening riff. But these brilliant and simple riffs have thought behind them. Slipknot really does not. They usually write an album in around a month, while a band like Deep Purple spends months or even years on an album.
I understand that, but I would think THEN that you had nothing to say. That, and you sent me a rep point saying “CC still sucks” so I thought that you understood my points and just admitted that you were wrong, yet you just dont like the bands/genres.
A troll is someone who posts on a forum to try and piss someone off. That is not what I have been doing here. I have been putting educated posts on here, just as well as you have.
