They don’t have to, but IF GOKU IS RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE FROM AN ATTACK, LOGIC WOULD HAVE IT THAT HE WOULD GO HIS MAXIMUM SPEED TO ESCAPE IT. IF HIS SPEED WAS EVEN HALF THE SPEED OF LIGHT, THIS WOULD BE NO PROBLEM.

WHAT DO THEY BASE THEIR CLAIMS ON.
By that I mean, HOW DID THEY COME TO THE IDEA THAT GOTENKS IS THAT FAST.
And simple math would show that if Gotenks was that fast, for Goku to go light speed he would need to be over 1000 times faster. This is obviously not true.

186282.397 divided by 186 is 1001.5182634408602150537634408602....., about 1002.
This means in order for Goku to reach the speed of light, he would need to be 1002 times as fast as Gotenks. Now please, tell me what EM might have to say about Goku’s speed eh? Because I can assure you he is not over 1000 times faster than Gotenks.
