Half Life 2

Half Life 2 extraction.
I’m new to this. I used Torrentopia to download Half Life 2. I end up with four WinRar files.
When I extract, I get many messages like:

New Folder\root\hl2\sound\vo\NovaProspekt: The file “New Folder\root\hl2\sound\vo\NovaProspekt” header is corrupt
New Folder\root\hl2\sound\vo\npc\Alyx: The file “New Folder\root\hl2\sound\vo\npc\Alyx” header is corrupt
New Folder\root\hl2\sound\vo\npc\Barney: The file “New Folder\root\hl2\sound\vo\npc\Barney” header is corrupt

etc.
Do I have to create specific folders, eg should “root” be HL2?
Help!

Michaela, find & download a program called “Alcohol 120%" & open it with that. from there you should beable to burn it on a disk using Alcohol 120%. After burning it onto a disk, install the game from the burnt disk. I’m not sure if it will work because of Steam account is very sucure but it’s worth a try since you allready downloaded the game.

Hello all...

I’m having a bit of a problem with half life 2.I used alcohol to run the game however at loading screens it freezes and I get the following error message:

“The instruction at “0x241f8977” referenced memory at “0x01cdf5c0”.this memory could not be “read”

I saw something which said right click on the half life 2 icon, go to properties,then go to the shortcut tab and make the following addition to the line labelled target as follows:


+mat_forcehardwaresync 0 +snd_async_prefetch_priority 1...

My problem is that I cant find the shortcut tab in properties. Why?

And more importantly, how do I work my way around this predicament?
