People are always trying to bring down Video games, for their violence, swearing, and realism. What ever happened to freedom? A game developer should be able to make a game as violent as they want without having some fool slice it down.

The basic claim that it’s bad for children is just stupid. Does playing guitar Hero make you a better guitarist? No. Does playing DDR make you dance better? No. Does jumping 10 feet in the air in Halo make you a better athlete? Hell no. You see my point.

For goodness sake, some music has more swearing then 10 video games put together. Some movies have more violence and disturbing scenes then any mere game. Not to mention, a baby or child can watch a movie or listen to music long before they can ever use a controller properly.

When will the day come games are given equal laws and standards as any other media device? People don’t give a damn if a movie or song has something utterly horrible in it. But if a game even does anything that goes to a quarter of that level, it’s suddenly harmful for children and should be burned.

You think your child learned that curse word from some game? Oh shit, more then likely children learn these bad things from their own parents. It’s the parents to blame, they can’t properly take care of their kids, but they always cast the blame on something else. Like each other, or video games.

Anyways, my point is that Video games are simply treated unfairly. They need to be accepted as another form of media by the masses, rather then be shunned because some idiots like to spread lies and hate. Games should not be held back, and neither should the gamers.

No study has ever came to the conclusion that video game violence is the cause of real life violence, in fact some would argue that the in game violence is good for you.

Old people take in game violence too sierously

Example: the day after GTA: SA came out i was playing in my living room in front of my mom (a huge mistake) and i beat some guy to death w/ a baseball bat then continued to hit him a good 50 times after he was dead, my mother went bat shit and made me return the copy.

This is excactly what I am wondering about too.

In fact if people blame all this violence on games for whatever have they even seen what is in some movies?

Alien Vs. Preditor Requiem was an average movie but it included the following getting killed,

Men-apporprite for mainly any movie where someone dies
Women- Not as much as men but still a lot.
Old People- Now it is starting to get bad
Little Children- A chestburster kills a little 10 year old boy
Pregeant women and Babies!- Yes in a part with the hospital the aliens KILL THEM ALL.

Heck there are even novels that are so violent you would not imagne like born on the forth of july. It is a very graphic story.

What is sad is that Jackass Thompson and stupid retards like Dr. Phil, Joe Liberman, and Hilary Clinton try to put the blame on it too. Plus Hilary has only been using that as a scare because she just wants 1 thing and 1 thing only, votes so she can get her grubby hands on the highest power in the world.

When are these retards going to learn to take responsibity and forget about these reasons? If someone made a game on the bible with all the violent content then what would they say then? Would they allow it for fear of religous reasons or just ban it all together?

Heck would Jacko even let his kid watch the passion of the christ? Most likey the biggest part of violence in the whole Bible?

I believe violence in videogames causes younger kids to become inure to violence, but not agressive altogether.
