Perhaps mugged might be a bit of an exaggeration, but two things are clear:

1. I was beat up
2. The beater stole my cards

The story:

Well, I’ve been playing on and off casually for a while now. Any friends I had who played stopped a long time ago, and all of the local groups and weekly Tourneys broke up. Not only that, but a huge chunk of almost every single good card I owned had been stolen at one of those tourneys.

Anyways, I had heard a local group was just starting up again. Despite my lack of cards, and outdated knowledge of the metagame, I was pretty excited. A few friends and myself decided to go. I dished out about two weeks worth of paychecks(around $80) in hopes I’d finally be able to start playing again. It seemed a worthwhile investment.

Anyways, I managed to pull together a somewhat decent deck. Nothing really flashy or expensive. I did a bit of studying up on new cards, and new deck types that had emerged. I was pretty damn excited. I went, and had a blast. My spirit for the game renewed.

As I’m leaving, one of the boys who was there came up to me. I hadn’t talked to him, or played with him. I didn’t stand out as an exceptional player either. Perhaps it was just because I was one of the last ones to leave?

Anyways, he says, “Give me your cards." Of course, I reject. He punches me in the nose, and starts grabbing at my pockets. I punch him in the chest, and he punches me in the eye. I fall over, and he goes into my pockets, taking my deck box, and runs off.

No. he didn’t go for the wallet containing $50 in my other pocket, my MP3 player in that same pocket, or any of my other valuables. He attacks me, and steals my flimsy cardboard trading cards. I got sympathy from the guy working the card shop, who gave me a few boosters, and an ice pack for my eye, but that’s besides the point.

Either the Yugioh anime is a bad influence on our teenagers, or the community has hit rock bottom in my area. Perhaps this is a sign that I wasn’t meant to play cards? Either way, I don’t think I’m going to even try to start playing again. If this is what I’m coming back to, I don’t want to.

On a side note, my Wrestling Coach yelled at me for getting beaten up(and it’s not even the Wrestling season right now.) I left out the part about the cards.

looks like you should quit playing games and look for another job.
