It’s usually just the quick way to get rid of threads. Deletion is kind of a last resort.

I figure no one’ll miss them. I think in the lounge, because it happens more often, mods lock the thread to retain evidence of mischief. I haven’t heard Bjarne decree a final ruling on the matter, so until then it seems to be left at the moderator’s discretion.

Regular Rep: 4  Joined: 19 Aug 2007 Posts: 114 OFFLINE | If the thread needs to be locked because of rule breaking I understand that but if the creator asks that it be deleted and it has nothing to do with rule breaking then it should be deleted.
This brings me to something else. Some rulebreaking threads should be deleted for the safety of the site and not just locked.
