Not saying it WOULD happen. But it’s a possibility and should go to show how it could be a downfall for Cloud to rely more on his superior speed and strength.
I don’t think that Link would be able to fend off such a fast a powerful attack so easily.
It’s called fluid motion.

Cloud’s Blade can split to compensate for speed watch him vs Kadaj, plus he dodged a bolt of lightning he can dodge Link no matter how swift he is and realisticly Link’s attire dousent instantly equip itself so while Link is pissing around with his item’s Cloud is Omnipwning him.
Link could not solo Sephiroth without item’s like Cloud did in AC and lack’s the strenth speed and endurance in this fight ---
