Just name what will (or should) be in the next interations of the consoles. Have fun with this and name some things we must have and things that would be nice.
--- alright the clans are back!!!! Lets revive the game section!
i wonder if nintendo is gunna do the same thing and keep making the less powerfull machines? it seems to work. the ps2 was the weakest, and so is the wii. maybe microsoft will sell a calculator with cheap laser controlled interface? it would be a block buster!
Well I think people need to understand what Wii was before you go off judging on the next one. It’s intentions weren’t to make a less powerful machine at hopes of winning.
The Wii is kinda like an intermediate console for Nintendo, aka something clearing a path for the next step. The Wii’s intentions, which if you read Nintendo’s Blue Ocean strategy, is to put Nintendo back on top. How’d they achieve that? Differentiate themselves from the competition in everyway, but in a better way. A way that the mass amount of buyers would turn as well. Whether that was an intuitive motion sensing device, cheaper cost, or strategic software, it worked.
But this strategy doesn’t work more than once. Cause if you change it again then you are pretty much going back to where you started right. Thus the next one has to be what they are leading up to if of course the intermediate console has worked. Judging by sales, brandname, ect I’d say the Wii has been an amazing success. They’ve got both hardware and software sales, large amounts of cash in their pocketbooks, and of course the lead in brand appeal.
Thus the next console is going to be something that builds upon the Wii not diverts from it. Like the 4 consoles before SNES built upon the NES. GC built upon the N64. N6 is going to build upon the Wii. Except this time they’ll be building upon something that will release virtually first in the market with dominant brand appeal.
Now what will it have. It’ll have more power, more intuitive motion sensing features, better online, and a couple of surprises. It’s a winning combination that Nintendo can sell for a slightly higher price to put more in and still come out on top. It’s using a very similar strategy that the PS1/PS2 combo used.
